Woman in Michigan takes home $130K second chance jackpot

A grandmother in Michigan surprised her grandchildren with extra gifts this Christmas after winning a mouth-watering second chance jackpot prize.

71-year-old woman scores BIG CA$H Second Chance win

Earlier this week, the Michigan Lottery announced that a Manistee woman, named Sherry Spencer, became the latest player to score a BIG CA$H Second Chance Jackpot prize.

To earn entry into the second chance jackpot drawing, the 71-year-old woman played eligible online lottery games at MichiganLottery.com.

Eligible games grant lottery players a chance to win hefty second chance prizes, earning one entry for every $0.50 wagered.

Players who earn entries for the second chance drawing do so only for a specific period.

Once the Michigan Lottery closes the entry period, it organizes a random drawing where one jackpot winner out of all entries is selected using a random method for this particular month.

The jackpot is then reset to $5,000 and starts to accumulate entries and grows until the next drawing.

The latest winner scored the $129,866 jackpot from the BIG CA$H Second Chance Jackpot drawing on December 10.

The winner initially didn't think the second chance jackpot was real

Only recently, the Manistee woman visited the Lottery headquarters to claim her prize.

When asked if she has any plans about the recent win, Spencer said that she intends to buy her grandchildren extra gifts for Christmas.

In addition, the fortunate woman said that she wanted to go on vacation and save the remainder of the lottery windfall.

Recalling the day she was notified about the jackpot prize, Spencer said while speaking to Lottery officials: "I saw an email from the Lottery that said I’d won a $129,866 BIG CA$H second chance jackpot, but I had a hard time believing it was real."

The lucky woman added: "Shortly after seeing the email, I got a call from the Lottery and was so delighted to hear that it was a real prize. Winning is such an amazing feeling!"

It was back in April 2022 when the BIG CA$H Second Chance game was initially launched.

Since then, players across Michigan have won more than $9 million in progressive jackpot prizes.

Last December, one of the biggest progressive jackpots was won, a sweet $260,975, while a month earlier, a lucky player won $257,631.

The next BIG CA$H Second Chance Jackpot drawing is scheduled for January 21, 2024.
