Drake is back in the betting news cycle with the Canadian rapper once again catching headlines because of his gambling antics. Drake has made a name for himself by placing large amounts which he subsequently lost, but in fairness, the rapper has also won a fair few of his bets as well.

Drake curse strikes – Or does it?

Now, though, he is back in the news cycle because an X user commented on Drake’s recent loss on Israel Adesanya, which cost the rapper $450,000, which meant that Drake had lost 92% of all bets he had placed, the account purported.

It wasn't immediately clear how the user reached this conclusion, but users snooped around and found where the odd stats had come up from. Happy Punch, a gold badge account, claimed that Drake had lost 17-189 of his wagers, "reportedly" and posted a crying face. Yet, readers quickly added a flair to the content, arguing that "this was made up by someone for fun."

Another line under the flagged user post now read that Drake did not have a track record of having placed that many public wagers. The tweet appeared around the time of Israel Adesanya taking on Dricus du Plessis at UFC 305, which Adesanya ultimately yielded to his opponent.

Drake has been known to place personal calls to athletes, telling them they are upstanding guys, and then springing the news that he had just bet as much money as they stand to win from the competition. This alone could be adding to why some athletes are said to be "cursed" by Drake when he bets on them.

It might not be the private act of betting, but the personal and overly promoted way in which the bets take place, which adds strain to athletes. Users quickly caught up to the source of the news, IcyVert, who upon seeing Happy Punch’s announcement, erupted in laughter confirming that they had made up the stats for the "lolz."

Dricus says Drake did help him after all

Drake’s wager on Adesanya was not too crazy by any reasonable margin. Had he won, he would have bagged about $860,000. Dricus did not hesitate to poke fun at Drake as well, telling the rapper that his curse had indeed helped.

Of course, the curse isn’t real. Although it’s not clear how much Drake has won versus how much he has lost, the rapper’s net worth has continued to grow over the years. Drake’s net worth has hit an estimated $270m in 2024, and it’s grown significantly over the past years.
