After several months of tight-lipped responses, the Ultimate Fighting Championship top honcho, Dana White, has finally teased more details about the upcoming UFC White House, which is due to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.
Speaking to Fox News, White detailed the upcoming event, showing renderings of the layout of the event, and revealing the number of seats – about 5,000 people would be welcomed to the White House’s makeshift stadium, which will host one of the most controversial events to date, turning the iconic building into the scene of gladiator-like brawls.
Commenting on what he wanted to achieve, White simply stated: "My vision for this thing is we have this big arch, with the lighting grid, because what I want is the White House on the back, and when the fight goes around to the other side, you’ll see the Washington Monument," adding that the event was going to "take over" Washington, DC.
In addition to unveiling the renderings on Fox News, White also appeared on Jake Paul’s podcast, hosted by the celebrity-turned-fighter. During the conversation, White said that the fighters would make their walkouts from the Oval Office.
He added that the event was Trump’s idea, quoting the former president as saying the White House "belongs to the American people" and should welcome more countrymen. The Wall Street Journal has already reported earlier in September that the weigh-ins will be done at the Lincoln Memorial.
The exact date of the event is still a moving target. Originally, the event was supposed to take place on July 4, 2026, but logistical challenges have shifted that date to June instead. At the same time, the likelihood of Conor McGregor fighting off Michael Chandler is increasing exponentially, with both likely to have been approached by the hosts already.
Speaking to Brian Kilmeade on Fox News, McGregor had this to say, adding fuel to the rumor engine: "I am on it. Michael Chandler and I have done the show Ultimate Fighter. We have a good back and forth. He’s a good, tough guy. The Mac is excited to come back for sure."
Chandler was similarly outspoken and confident that the UFC would involve him and McGregor as the Main Event. Speaking to Laura Ingraham on Fox News, the fighter said:
"Conor and I have history.I am the opponent he wants. He is the opponent I want. That would be a heck of a main event for UFC White House. You’ll have all the build-up to the fight, you’re talking about 250 years of this great nation of ours, America’s birthday, July at the White House. This has all of the ingredients needed to be the biggest fight in UFC history."
White confirmed that he has been in touch with McGregor, but while he spoke highly of the fighter, he stopped short of offering any concrete details about whether a fight between the Irishman and Chandler may happen next year. McGregor last fought Dustin Poirier in 2021 and lost by a TKO.
