Bruno Mars, one of the most celebrated music artists on the planet, and now – the most streamed artist on Spotify, has taken to Instagram to celebrate his success. In a post, Mars thanked his fans for tuning in and encouraged them to "KEEP STREAMING."

Bruno Mars celebrates new Spotify milestone with a joke about "gambling debt"

"I’ll be out of debt in no time," the Hawaii-born performer punched, making light of a previous rumor that alleged he owed $50m to MGM Resorts in Las Vegas, first broke by a single media outlet, and immediately shot down by both Mars and the property itself.

The original story alleged that tensions between Mars and MGM Resorts had been fraught because of the performer’s stonking gambling debt, but none of this was the case. The story did the rounds, though, and made many people wonder if there was something to it.

Almost a year in, however, no shred of evidence has emerged to suggest that the Honolulu artist had any truck with gambling, let alone dabbling excessively into it to the extent that would see him rake a colossal debt. Mars even extended his residency with MGM Resorts around the same time the debt story broke.

However, he has been in good mood about it, with his latest post on Instagram suggesting that he has not completely forgotten about the wild stipulation about his excessive gambling. Celebrating the milestone of having been streamed and listened to by 150m people on Spotify, Mars has not given up on his collaboration with MGM Resorts and vice versa.

MGM Resorts and Bruno Mars keep working together

He has been booked for shows on May 21, 24, 25, 28, 30, and 31, as well as another date for June 2. The News Nation story which was originally published back in March and suggested that the artist had stacked up the debt was never retracted nor have Mars or MGM Resorts seen it appropriate to request the story to be taken down.

All in all, Mars has walked away with a smile on his face from the whole ordeal, and he is not past evoking the story in his social media posts, a nod to the fact that some things need not be taken to the extreme.
