Super Bowl betting bonanza sees multiple cool wagers go down

As the build-up for the Super Bowl 59 title game is entering a critical moment, bettors are not letting up and keep piling on their picks with sportsbooks. The American Gaming Association is currently predicting that at least $1.39bn will be wagered on the upcoming game this weekend.

Someone bets $800K on the Eagles to win Super Bowl 59

Much of this is already materializing with sportsbooks racing to secure early bragging rights as to how big their single bets have gotten. Start with BetMGM, which shared the news earlier this week that a person had placed $800,000 moneyline for the Philadelphia Eagles to win the championship game.

This is some serious money going down on the underdog which is listed at odds of +110 at most bookmakers. This is not surprising either, as the Eagles have trailed the Chiefs throughout the regular season, posting, perhaps, a slightly worse performance on balance.

However, the teams are very closely matched as indicated by the 2023 game which saw the two franchises vie for the title, which went to the Chiefs with a narrow 3-point lead. Fans are similarly expecting the weekend game to be every bit as nerve-racking and exciting as that 2023 championship.

BetMGM also said that someone had bet $300,000 on the Chiefs to win as the favorites at -130, but this is hardly all there is to this weekend’s betting bonanza, especially when it comes to big wagers. For example, ESPN Bet said that it had also accepted a large wager on the Eagles worth $200,000 at odds of +105.

People are also betting big money on the overall scoring to be Under 49.5 with two people wagering $125,000 and $120,000 on the same outcome respectively at BetMGM.

Consensus is that teams will score under 49.5 collectively

Someone at DraftKings also wagered $150,000 on a +105 moneyline for the Eagles to actually come on top. Moving on, Caesars reported two interesting wagers of its own. The bookmaker is one of few to actually list the Eagles as a favorite on the +1 spread at -115. A punter had wagered $115,000, which would be the outcome, and Philadelphia would win by a single-point difference.

Another person at Caesars is also wagering $110,000 on the score being under 49.5 at odds of -110. All told, the race is heating up and there is a lot of reason to tune in and watch the Big Game!
