Some 15,000 new tech jobs are expected to be created in the next five years, according to a new report released by the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) in the UK. The new workplaces are expected to be a part of an ambitious Levelling Up campaign that seeks to expand the regulated betting and gaming industry, while at the same time bringing benefits to the country.

The Purpose Coalition, which consists of innovative organizations such as Amazon, NHS Trusts and BBC, applauded the work of members of the BGC toward the Levelling Up campaign. The recent report said that the Council has been: "praised for their work providing jobs, skills and investment outside the capital."

In a press release on Monday, BGC's Chief Executive, Michael Dugher, said that one of the goals of the Council is to "build a world-class industry that is better understood, respected and a fully engaged member of the communities."

He pointed out that the BGC is proud of the collaboration with the Purpose Coalition and the progress as a part of the Levelling Up campaign. Dugher explained that it is exciting to see members of the Council offer well-paid and high-skilled jobs within the hospitality and tech industries.

"Our members are global leaders in the betting and gaming industry, with the online betting, gaming and bingo sector now on track to deliver another 15,000 high paid, high skilled jobs," said the Council's Chief Executive in conclusion.

The regulated gaming and betting industry in the UK currently supports 119,000 jobs and generates £4.5bn ($5.6bn) in taxes for the Treasury. From that total, approximately 10,000 high skilled technology jobs are supported by the gaming, online betting and bingo sectors. Those jobs support an additional 30,000 workplaces and according to the BGC, further jobs will be created outside London.

The Chair of the Purpose Business Coalition, Lord Walney added: "This analysis highlights the positive economic and social contribution made by members of the Betting and Gaming Council who are sustaining well-paid high-tech jobs in several communities that are the focus of the government's leveling up drive."

He explained that the BGC is spearheading the efforts to support its members. This in turn helps boost the UK economy and the overall gaming and hospitality industry in the country. In conclusion, Walney said: "I look forward to continuing to work with them as a valued member of the Purpose Coalition."

While the iGaming industry in the UK continues to grow, operators join forces to ensure a safe gambling experience for the consumers. The BGC pointed out that those combined efforts helped decrease problem gambling to 0.2%.
