The leading UK betting operator that is recognizable across the globe, William Hill, announced an important sponsorship deal by teaming up with the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL).
Recognized as record-breaking, the new five-year deal is set to commence with the start of the 2024/25 season. This will see the leading betting and gaming operator become an Official Betting Partner of the SPFL.
Moreover, William Hill will be designated as the title sponsor for all four SPFL divisions. As a result, the divisions will become the William Hill Premiership, William Hill Championship, William Hill League 1 and William Hill League 2.
Undoubtedly, the landmark deal represents an important achievement for the leading betting operator. This is because the collaboration will help promote William Hill and enable the operator to reach more players.
In addition to the agreement between the SPFL and William Hill, the duo joined forces with EPIC Global Solutions for the launch of a new multi-year program.
Recognized as a first of its kind for Scottish football, the new program will help raise awareness of the dangers of excessive gambling and seeks to combat gambling harm. The new program will cater to SPFL players, supporters and employees, offering interactive workshops for all 42 SPFL clubs.
Clubs that have Community Trusts will benefit from sessions conducted under the program.
Similar efforts led by EPIC Global Solutions across the globe show exceptional results. Thanks to such programs, nine out of ten athletes said they are aware of how and where to ask for support if they are concerned about their gambling.
Michael Sheehan, William Hill's Marketing Director, shared his excitement about the latest partnership in a statement. "We’re delighted to become title sponsor and Official Betting Partner of the SPFL, as well as launching a pioneering Gambling Harm Awareness program, delivered by EPIC," he revealed.
Sheehan added: "For decades, we at William Hill have loved Scottish football and its fiercely loyal and passionate fans. Now, building on our long-standing association with Scottish football, we are delighted to be playing our part in five exciting seasons of the SPFL."
According to the company's Marketing Director, the new sponsorship agreement will help raise awareness of the dangers of gambling across Scottish football communities.
Neil Doncaster, SPFL's group chief executive, was similarly thrilled. "William Hill is a name long associated with Scottish football and we are enormously excited to have reached a long-term, record-breaking agreement with our new title sponsors," he explained.
Speaking about the five-year partnership, Doncaster said that it represents "tremendous" news for the SPFL clubs as well as their growing fan base and Scottish football.
"Everyone at the SPFL is looking forward to working with William Hill to promote the passion, drama and excitement of the League and its 42 clubs over the next five seasons, as well as the roll-out of our program with EPIC," added Doncaster.
