Bayes Esports and Riot Games continue to elevate the esports experience by innovating on their LoL Esports Data Portal or LDP for short which will serve as a centralized hub where players and teams can find important data-driven insights into professional League of Legends. This is a step-up for the company as it previously distributed the LDP to professional organizations only.
Now, the LDP will make it easy to access a number of data sets, which in turn improve and power teams, fan experiences, partners, and more, all of which will help the esports community continue to grow consistently and sustainably.
Bayes Esports and Riot Games share an interest in creating a sustainable ecosystem for professional esports that can scale organically. Riot Games is one of the few, if not only, publishers who are actively involved with growing the esports ecosystem in a data-driven and sustainable manner.
The publisher wants to improve the experience for everyone involved, from tournament organizers to the fans who are watching at home. The LDP is accessible to more than 150 partners worldwide which are able to access it through the UI, API or both. Thanks to the numerous data collected by the LDP, teams are to continuously improve their experiences, a courtesy that will now be extended to players and communities as well.
Professional organizations are already confident that the LDP is an important step forward for elevating the esports experience and helping established and up-and-coming teams improve. One of those teams is Evil Geniuses who has praised the LDP, confirming that the solution has been an important way for the organization to improve its performance and look deeper into its own gameplay, and analyze areas that needed more work. Commenting on this in the official press release, Chris DeAppolonio, Evil Geniuses Chief Innovation Officer, said:
"With the LDP, we have direct access to key data points from games that have saved our team countless hours of number crunching and research, allowing us to instead put all of our effort in breaking down these insights and using it to inform our strategy and decision-making in future matches."
The data provided by the LDP has been very helpful for the team to stay ahead of the curve. The LDP was rolled out last year as a collaboration between Riot and Bayes but with today’s announcement, the feature is now becoming available to community use cases and will come to the help of established community-driven initiatives such as Leaguepedia and Oracle’s Elixir.
Riot GamesLead of Competitive Data Programs for Esports John Knauss said that the team was excited to be "laying the foundation and starting to share our vision for the future of esports data."
Knauss explained that the company has been determined to make sure that partners, professional teams, and the community can come together to revolutionize the esports industry. Data has proven the turning point.
"Working with Bayes to develop the underlying tech to bring this vision to life has been a fantastic opportunity, and we are looking forward to continuing to push and differentiate esports in the space," Knauss added.
Bayes Esports CEO and Managing Director Martin Dachselt shared the company’s excitement to have been able to elevate the experience for esports companies even further. Innovation that helps the industry growth is the focal point of all of the company’s efforts. Bayes Esports will remain committed to developing the LDP and continue to professionalize the esports industry through smart, intuitive data-driven solutions.
