  • EGBA hails success in the use of RG tools, with 65% of consumers utilizing the tools
  • The association welcomed three more powerful members
  • EGBA has advanced causes focused on player protection and anti-money laundering

The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has presented its Annual Activity Report, with the organization focusing on a number of core achievements over the past months, including new members and significant milestones.

EGBA hails interest in RG tools and safer play

The report was presented by EGBA’s Secretary-General, Maarten Haijer, who highlighted the use of safer gambling tools by European gamblers, as per the 2024 Annual Sustainability Report cited in the same press release. The number of players to have used these tools has reached 65% of the customer base, or some 21m people – a record.

"t was a significant year for EGBA: our membership expanded, we hosted a record-breaking European Safer Gambling Week that reached over 3 million citizens with safety messages, and we provided input into many important policy discussions," Haijer said.

EGBA’s members also sent more than 67m messages to customers focusing on safer play, highlighting the sector’s commitment to educating and raising awareness for responsible play. The association paid attention to the European Safer Gambling Week, which was able to expand to 26 countries and involve 195 stakeholders, with eight national gambling authorities stepping up.

The campaign reached 3m people across the targeted markets and led to 20 events with 4,500 registrations. EGBA hailed the recent developments in European regulation, with Finland now planning to switch to a multi-licensing model, which is the right way forward, argues the association.

Monopolies have been failing to protect consumers and minimize the clout of the black-market, and this is why multi-licensed markets tend to do better when it comes to crucial areas of the gambling industry.

Improving regulation, the role of online market, and fighting crime remain priorities

Furthermore, EGBA has worked on advancing its anti-money laundering initiatives and hosted a number of workshops to help strengthen the understanding of the issue and how the sector can counteract such criminal endeavors.

EGBA’s members were able to secure a 15% growth in their online gross gaming revenue, which hit €13.5bn in 2024, according to the association, with casino games constituting the bulk of that with 51% of the total.

EGBA also celebrated the inclusion of several new members to its ranks, including identity verification expert Sumsub, Superbet Group, and LeoVegas Group.
