BetBlocker, a solution that offers aid to problem gamblers in their native language, has expanded into the African market with the addition of three more languages - Bemba, Nyanja and Tonga, seeking to help consumers in Zambia.
BetBlocker has been guided by the unshakable belief that in order to achieve the best results and assist as many people as possible, the services it renders ought to be presented to people in their native language.
Recently, BetBlocker offered translated support for Eastern Europeans in the United Kingdom, acknowledging that many of the people who need help did not have a full command of English, and that it was otherwise beneficial to offer support in a person’s mother tongue.
BetBlocker has now taken this guiding principle a step further launching the service in the aforementioned language which account for 75% of Zambia’s population. Zambia is a country of 21m people.
BetBlocker Founder Duncan Garvie has welcomed this important new step and spoke highly of the introduction of the app in the indigenous languages. In a statement, Garvie said:
"For BetBlocker it’s critical to be able to reach users in a language that they can comfortably engage in to ensure a smooth and speedy set-up process. Native languages also help us step past cultural barriers, showing that BetBlocker isn’t simply available to these communities, it’s actively working to support them.
This is especially important in under-served and under-supported markets, like many of the African countries. The sad truth is that there simply aren’t the support services available for many African nationals that exist in more established jurisdictions. To my mind that makes it doubly important to ensure that BetBlocker is available and easily accessing."
The company has also launched several other options, including an upcoming Catalan version due at ICE Barcelona. BetBlocker teamed up with EveryMatrix and the Responsible Gaming Foundation for a version in Maltese.
Not least, Clarion Gaming has picked BetBlocker as its official charity partner for ICE, iGBA and iGB Live. Last year, BetBlocker and Casino Guru announced a partnership intended at bolstering player protection.
