Earlier this week, the Las Vegas Raiders’ head coach, Klint Kubiak, confirmed Kirk Cousins will be starting quarterback for Week 8. Las Vegas is set to face the New York Jets on Sunday.
As a seasoned player, Cousins is equipped with what is needed to win an NFL MVP as long as he is also backed by a strong team, one legendary player suggests.
In a recent interview, the former professional football player and NFL MVP, Rich Gannon, talked about Cousins' extensive skill set.
"In fairness to Kirk Cousins, could he win an NFL MVP if he had the team that I had? Sure, I think, because I think he has similar skill sets to what I had," the NFL legend explained.
Gannon argued that Cousins doesn’t use his legs as much as he did, but the NFL MVP acknowledged that the Raiders quarterback has significant experience and has won many games.
"I don’t think he uses his legs as much as I did, but, you know, he’s a real cagey player and, a veteran guy that’s won a lot of football games," the former professional football player said.
Last but not least, Rich Gannon explained: "So, I don’t think it’s apples to apples when you consider who he has in the huddle with him and who I had."
Cousins, a 38-year-old football quarterback, started his professional career more than a decade ago after he was picked in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft.
Although his career started with the Washington Redskins, Cousins has been part of the rosters of the Minnesota Vikings and the Atlanta Falcons before joining the Raiders.
