  • Reaffirming its commitment to sports integrity, BetMGM updated its anti-harassment policy
  • The new policy enables the operator to suspend betting accounts in cases of abuse against athletes, coaches or league personnel
  • Rhea Loney, BetMGM's Chief Compliance Officer, speaks with excitement about the latest announcement

The leading sports betting and iGaming operator with a strong presence across North America, BetMGM, reaffirms its dedication to sports integrity with an updated athlete anti-harassment policy.

Players' accounts can be suspended over abusive language, harassment

Previously, BetMGM's policy enabled it to suspend players' accounts for "any lawful reason, including harassment."

However, in a new update to its policy, the leading betting and iGaming company brought more clarity about harassment, specifically in an effort to ensure the integrity of professional sports and the safety of athletes.

Per the updated harassment policy, BetMGM can suspend a player's account if information suggests that they have been involved in harassment, including abusive language toward athletes, coaches, as well as team or league personnel and other officials.

It is worth noting that the updated terms of service are subject to regulatory approval.

BetMGM's latest effort reaffirms its commitment to player safety and sports integrity.

At the same time, the update of the anti-harassment policy complements the operator's broader responsible gambling initiatives.

Such include the integration of educational messaging at 10 football stadiums across the country via GameSense, the leading program developed and licensed to MGM Resorts and BetMGM by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation.

In addition to responsible messaging, BetMGM offers a range of responsible gambling tools such as time, bet and spending limits.

All those efforts combined highlight the company's dedication to responsible play and positive, transparent and proactive engagement.

BetMGM sends a clear message that harassment doesn't belong in sports and betting

Barry Sanders, BetMGM's ambassador and legendary football player, highlighted the importance of the anti-harassment policy update.

"As a professional athlete, I know how important respect is — both on and off the field. BetMGM is sending a strong message that harassment has no place in sports or sports betting. I’m proud to see BetMGM protecting athletes and promoting integrity," he said.

Rhea Loney, BetMGM's Chief Compliance Officer, added: "We are unwavering in our commitment to sports integrity — and that commitment extends to safeguarding athletes, coaches and league personnel."

Finally, she pointed out: "Our legal, regulated environment enables us to identify misconduct, investigate reports, and take action when necessary. Any confirmed instance of harassment will result in decisive measures, including account suspension."
