Arizona Cardinals' insider Ryan Gold continues to be targeted by the National Football League (NFL) in a far-reaching investigation that has now roped in regulators in Arizona and Massachusetts.
Gold stands accused of allegedly sharing sensitive information with a sports bettor, which might have influenced betting decisions and goes against the NFL’s gambling policy, whereby insiders may not participate in any form of betting activity or share information with third parties that could in turn be used to influence gambling markets.
The NFL even had to overhaul its gambling rules to ensure that it does not leave anything to assumption, and formally codified this into its rules. Gold is specifically accused of tipping off a gambler ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.
According to the NFL, Gold allegedly shared information about the Cardinals and that the team would be picking Jeremiyah Love, a Notre Dame running back, as their third pick. Gold is also accused of placing wagers on college football games as well as professional NFL games.
The investigation has now officially tied regulators in both Massachusetts and Arizona, with the Arizona Department of Gaming, the state’s watchdog for gambling, also opening an investigation into the alleged transgressions by the NFL and Arizona Cardinals insider.
Specifically, the regulator is investigating potential suspicious betting activity by Gold, involving the team. Reports suggest that Massachusetts regulators may also be after Gold and probing the allegations.
