In the latest episode of Safer Gambling Talks, Simon Vincze, Casino Guru's Head of Sustainable & Safer Gambling, who arrived at the beautiful city of Prague to talk about the beginning of responsible gambling in the Czech and Slovak markets.

He was joined by Eva Heringova, Group Responsible Gambling Manager for Fortuna Entertainment Group, who is now the third guest to the format since the series was launched.

Previous guests included James Mpiirwe, a man who helped establish Uganda’s regulatory and responsible framework and Dr Margaret Carran, Associate Professor in Law and Associate Dean (Education) at The City Law School of City.

This list of industry insiders is now expanded by Heringova who is now part of this inspiring journey behind the Safer Gambling Talks series aiming to shift the focus of the gambling industry towards positive play.

The discussion pivots not only around what the current status quo is, but importantly, how things can improve for the better. Vincze and Heringova have discussed important initiatives, such as the Safer Gambling Week in Prague, the overlap in their work, and why collaborative efforts lead to better player safety.

The conversation isn’t just about responsible gambling itself, but also about how the agents of change - the young workforce in the industry - may initially be reluctant to take a job in the sector, fearing they might contribute to harm.

However, the industry is doubling down to explain that it is proactive in looking out for the player’s well-being, and such efforts are becoming more common.

Heringova also touches on what the right way of intervening and protecting consumers is and cautions against an over-interventionist approach whereby clients leave for competitors who may be less inclined to maintain the same standard of player care.

She similarly touches on gambling as escapism but also highlights how Fortuna Entertainment Group is aware of such behavior and what it does to ensure that players are not spending out of frustration or some other unhealthy motivator.

Ultimately, Vincze’s conversation with Heringova is an honest take behind the scenes on what the gambling industry is doing right now to protect consumers and how commercial interests and social responsibility intersect.
