Continuing in the tradition of advocating for a highly responsible gambling standard in the industry, Casino Guru has released a new series called Safer Gambling Talks. These series focus on, among other things, exploring the current landscape for safer gambling in the industry, factoring in jurisdictional differences, but also looking to summarize and outline those sets of rules that apply universally across borders when it comes to consumer protection within the industry.
The series looks to explore various topics with experts from safer gambling and introduces some of the industry’s biggest advocates for achieving a more sustainable industry that promotes these core values, but also does so in a commercially viable setting that brings operators and players closer together in their shared goals.
In the first episode of this exciting podcast, Casino Guru's Head of Sustainable & Safer Gambling, Šimon Vincze, sits down with Dr Margaret Carran, Associate Professor in Law and Associate Dean (Education) at The City Law School of City, University of London, to talk about a range of topics and how self-exclusion practices in the gambling industry can be improved to the benefit of all.
The conversation takes a harder look at the challenges and benefits of such an initiative, and how a collaborative effort between stakeholders can encourage stronger player protection that transcends local markets. The topic focuses strongly on the Self-Exclusion Standards project which is looking to create a set of recommendations on what the best practice for self-exclusion should be internationally.
The project is divided into different stages which are based on academic research, but analyze the existing evidence that is already available to the community and the industry in a bid to ensure that any recommendations are based on actual insight into what the proper standards for self-exclusion should be.
The Sisyphean task of fighting for a better and more sustainable gambling industry that puts player protection first requires a change in how things are done when it comes to this particular aspect of the industry, and the Self-Exclusion Standards project is a fantastic start.
