Q: AffPapa helped create the Casino Guru Academy affiliate management course. What misunderstanding about the job did you most want that course to clear up?
"One common misunderstanding about affiliate management is that a lot of people think that it’s risk-free, but on the contrary, really, there are a lot of risks in affiliate management.
So the best advice in order to keep your risks low is to do your research, do your homework, make sure that you’re verifying every single affiliate that you’re speaking to, and you should be all good."
Q: Imagine a new affiliate manager is meeting potential partners at SBC. What should they find out before agreeing to work together?
"One of the main things that an affiliate manager should find out, if I have to narrow it down to three, they would be:
First of all, you need to understand the GEOS, if they are aligning with the targeted GEOS of your operator.
You need to check the traffic sources and make sure that the traffic sources are the ones that you accept.
And of course, the commission structure, because everything is in the details at this point."
Q: When negotiating a deal, which term deserves more attention than the headline commission rate—and why?
"I believe every affiliate manager has their own ideology about this, but mine is actually kind of simple, really.
I focus on the payment date. By focusing on the payment date and paying all your affiliate partners on time, this will not only show your professionalism in the business, and it will show you that you are legit.
Now, in the future, when coming up with a new deal and speaking to new partners, your name and your company’s name is going to sound like heaven."
Q: If someone completed our course and joined your team tomorrow, what practical task would you give them to see whether they could apply what they had learned?
„A good way to test them—honestly, there are multiple tasks that I would be providing them, but one of my favorites is that I will be introducing them to a new brand, a brand that’s very challenging, and I would give them up to ten different affiliate partners for them to choose out from, to do their research.
Now, this will not only help you understand that the affiliate manager understands and knows what they are doing, but it will also show that they are actually doing their own research."
