An incredibly fortunate lottery player decided to try her luck with a ticket and won a life-changing jackpot.
That's the story of one Broadway woman who scored a top prize from the North Carolina Education Lottery's Cash 5 game.
Recently, the Lee County woman visited Value Mart on Carthage Street in Sanford.
This is when she decided to play Cash 5 and purchased a Quick Pick ticket.
To her surprise and shock, that $1 ticket ultimately brought her a once-in-a-lifetime jackpot.
Entering the Cash 5 drawing on Friday, the winner took down the game's top prize for a sweet $674,860 payday.
Earlier this week, the fortunate player visited the North Carolina Education Lottery headquarters to claim her big win.
After the relevant applicable state and federal taxes, the winner's bank account increased by $485,967.
The player did not reveal if she had plans for her newfound fortune.
Still, she will undoubtedly always remember the choice she made to give Cash 5 a try and match all numbers for a life-changing jackpot.
The odds of taking down the jackpot from Cash 5 are 1 in 962,598.
Cash 5 is one of six lottery games available to players across North Carolina that offer a range of prizes.
Tickets are available at retail outlets and online via the Lottery's official website or official mobile app.
Cash 5 tickets cost $1 per play and offer players a chance to win a prize between $1 and a jackpot that starts at $100,000 and grows until won.
An extra $1 per play adds the game's Double Play option, doubling the chance to win with a second drawing.
On the other hand, another $1 per play unlocks Cash 5's EZ Match option for a chance to win a range of instant prizes.
