SOFTSWISS has delved deeply into the seam of social casinos, breaking down interesting player patterns and trends about the vertical. The company is basing this insight on 15 years of experience in iGaming, and having analyzed data by 700,000 SpinArena.net players, one of the biggest and fastest-expanding social casinos in Europe.

Of course, SOFTSWISS has another reason to be looking harder at big data and crunching numbers, as the company recently acquired a stake in Ously Games GmbH, which is the company behind SpintArena.net. The statistics presented by SOFTSWISS help picture the profile of the social casino player in the first place.

"Social casinos are part of the mega trend in the global entertainment industry, where player behaviour coincides with those in traditional online casino gaming. Anticipating social casinos' evolution and integration with iGaming, SOFTSWISS partnered with Ously Games GmbH to present a new B2B software product – a comprehensive platform for social casinos," notes SOFTSWISS COO Vitali Matsukevich.

For starters, more 80% of people who participate in social casinos prefer to conceal their age and gender, which leaves a somewhat limited sample relative to the size of the sector to work with. Out of those who share their age, there are young men from 18 to 30 years of age who account for 12.45% of players. Another 3.12% come from players between 30 and 40 years of age.

Players who reveal their gender are also somewhat limited to around 12%. The other 88% prefer to withhold information about their gender. Most of the players in SpinArena are from Germany, but also the United Kingdom. With this limited information at hand, the analysis ploughs on to factor the reasons and main drivers of why people play at casinos and how much time they spend there.

The average play session is about 47 minutes at SpinArena.net, SOFTSWISS data shows. Most of the players game between 4 pm and 9 pm with the lowest traffic registered between 2 am and 5 am. Players also tend to be far more active on Fridays and Sundays, with less activity on Mondays.

Interestingly, players who choose to game at SpinArena.net show a propensity for social responsibility and what the company calls human biorhythms, or what we would refer to as the natural sleeping cycle of people.

Ously Games GmbH Founder Jochen Martinez has commented on the analysis and said that it shows how social casinos can fulfil the same needs that players at traditional, this is real money casinos, have. Yet, the experience is much safer at SpinArena.net, notes Martinez.

"Combining gaming with social interactions provides a unique environment and neutralises financial risks. Players can enjoy activities like connecting with friends while playing their favourite games," he concludes.

Interestingly, SpinArena.net offers more than 3,000 games altogether, but almost half of the traffic is spent on 15 top games, which means that visibility and popularity are a factor in deciding what games to play. The top five games, for example, already bring in one-third of all gaming sessions.

Those include popular choices such as Gates of Olympus, Sugar Rush, and Sweet Bonanza, which are surprisingly popular titles to explore in both social as well as real money casinos. SOFTSWISS recently offered another insightful breakdown into crypto gambling habits and the waning dominance of Bitcoin.
