The SBC Summit 2024 held in Lisbon, Portugal last week, was one of the industry’s largest, and certainly the biggest and most impactful get-together organized by SBC. The show set new records and served as a springboard for various ideas, discussions and networking opportunities.

SBC Summit 2024 sets new records

A look at the raw numbers suggests that SBC Summit 2024 has set new breakneck records both in terms of industry standards and based on its own internal targets. The show saw almost 25,000 attendees, a 70% jump from the 2023 edition held in Barcelona.

There were attendees from more than 134 countries, and the show itself took place at the Feira Internacional de Lisboa and MEO Arena, covering 110,000 square feet. The show hosted such important dignitaries as Lisbon Mayor Carlos Moedas and Portuguese Minister of Economy Pedro Reis.

The show was hailed as an important economic driver for the Portuguese capital with the show said to have generated €100m in indirect economic windfall.

The event also brought in a distinct number of exhibitors with 600 companies presenting and showcasing their products, services, and achievements. 250 of those were new to the SBC Summit, and 100 were first-time exhibitors at any event hosted by SBC.

As is its custom, the SBC Summit brought on-site many interesting personalities, such as Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the World Wide Web inventor, and Tony Hawk, the legendary skateboarder. There was Laura Woods, a British TV presenter and football aces Luis Figo and Peter Schmeichel, and not least UFC champions Merab Dvalishvili.

In terms of attendees from the industry’s highest tiers, there were many distinct C-level executives among whom were Gustaf Hagman, CEO of LeoVegas, Alex Fonseca, CEO of Brazil of Superbet, Per Widerstrom, CEO of Evoke, Nils Anden, CEO of Kindred Group, and many, many others.

Hosting concurrent events as part of the SBC Summit format

The event also hosted the SBC Awards which gathered 1,300 industry professionals who were competing across 39 categories. Casino Guru won the accolade in the "Best Casino Affiliate of the Year" track.

SBC Summit Lisbon is already gearing up for its next edition next year, with SBC hailing the success of the gathering and looking to broaden its appeal and reach new benchmarks and opportunities.

This year also included the concurrent Affiliate Leaders Summit, ESI Lisbon, and the Payment Expert Summit, all co-hosted as a dedicated part of the broader SBC Summit format, where leaders can come together and explore different aspects of the gaming experience.
