The Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) of America has become the latest organization to join and endorse the Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly. campaign launched by the American Gaming Association (AGA).

The campaign is part of AGA’s extensive efforts to raise awareness for the regulated gambling market, protect consumers, and involve as many industry stakeholders as possible in its mission to make gambling sustainable, safer, and more responsible.

As a result, the 2024 PGA Championship due to take place on May 16-19 at the ValhallaGolf Club in Louisville, Kentucky will promote the Have A Game Plan campaign and use various imagery and messages from the initiative to use the event as an opportunity to raise awareness for it and its stated goal.

PGA will also promote the campaign on its social platforms and digital platforms, hoping to reach more viewers and fans of golf. PGA of America Chief Commercial Officer Jeff Price has welcomed the opportunity to see his organization be a part of the Have A Game Plan campaign and has hailed it as an integral part of PGA’s own strategy as interest in betting on golf has been increasing.

"As the PGA of America welcomes ESPN BET as the Official Sports Betting Sponsor of the 106th PGA Championship, it is core to our values to ensure golf fans have the right tools in their bag to bet responsibly," Price said.

Have A Game Plan has been one of the longest responsible gambling campaigns operating nationally in the United States, having launched only a year after PASPA was defeated in 2018. Since 2019, the campaign has sought to actively promote core tenets of responsible gambling, including urging consumers to play cautiously by setting budgets, understanding how odds work, and especially – focusing on picking sportsbooks that are regulated.

PGA of America is just one of many major organizations in the United States to have vowed their support for the initiative, among which are the MLB, NASCA, NBA, PGA Tour, WNBA, the NHL, the NFL, and many others. The campaign has been particularly successful with individual betting and gambling brands as well.

Commenting on this new opportunity, JoeMaloney, AGA Senior VP of Strategic Communications, has said that with the help of PGA of America, Have A Game Plan will have a much better chance of driving its core messages in.
