Free ticket turns into AU$100K win for lucky Tasmanian mum

A free scratch-off ticket brought a life-enhancing prize to one fortunate winner.

That's the story of one Tasmanian mum who scored one of the top prizes from The Lott's Flamingo Bingo X2 instant scratch-its ticket.

"I think we just won $100,000!"

Interestingly, the top prize winning ticket was received for free by the lottery player.

Speaking on the topic with an official from The Lott, the Youngtown woman explained that last week, she won a AU$5 free ticket from a scratch-off ticket.

"It’s so crazy, the ticket I scratched last week gave me a $5 free ticket and it was that ticket that won me the top prize," she revealed.

Taking down the top prize from Flamingo Bingo X2, the Tasmanian mum will enjoy a sweet AU$100,000 ($70,300).

The fortunate winner admitted that she often buys scratch-off tickets and happens to win small prizes.

Then, like any other lottery player, she said she usually buys more tickets.

Recalling the moment she won the AU$100,000 top prize from the $5 Flamingo Bingo X2 ticket, the woman said: "I was sitting on the lounge when I scratched it, and I just kept checking the ticket over. Then I walked out to my husband and said, ‘I think we just won $100,000!’. He said, ‘No way!'"

She added that her husband's doubt about the windfall was gone after she started to fill out the prize claim.

The lucky Youngtown woman revealed that she works in the hospitality industry, which is why the AU$100,000 prize would really help her family.

"These things don’t happen to me so it’s very surreal! There are some things I’d love to do, so I’ll have a good think and be wise to set things up," she pointed out.

Last but not least, she thanked the lottery, acknowledging that the win comes at a perfect time.
