Search for new Isle of Man gambling watchdog begins

In the same stride, Brennan said that the search for his replacement had already commenced. He served as the watchdog’s Chief Executive for just under 17 years, and he held various positions at the Gaming Regulators European Forum (GREF) during the same time he managed the regulator.

He joined GREF in 2013 as a Member of the Board, followed by a step-up in the pecking order as Vice Chair of the Board in 2014, and finally a Chair of the Board, a position which he held between 2016 and 2018.

"After 38 years in the Isle of Man Government, the last 17 of which have been at the helm of the Gambling Supervision Commission, I’ll be stepping down as its chief executive towards the end of this year," Brennan said in his LinkedIn update.

He also paid tribute to the people within the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission calling them incredible colleagues to work with.

"While the information pack details pretty much everything you need to know, it doesn’t really convey the incredible people you’ll meet, the fabulous professional relationships you’ll build, the expert knowledge-sharing you’ll enjoy and the great camaraderie and support the sector offers," he continued in his post.
