The provider of official data, technology and solutions, powering sports betting and media companies across the globe, Genius Sports, strengthened its senior-level team with a fresh addition.
The company confirmed Monday it hired the services of the proven leader and tech expert, Mark Kropf.
Joining Genius Sports, he was appointed to the strategic role of Group Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
As a Group CTO, Kropf will play a key role in Genius Sports' future growth and expansion.
He will leverage his extensive experience in AI accumulated while he was a part of Google to help Genius Sports with the deployment of its next-generation sports data and AI platform, Genius IQ.
The innovative platform uses generative AI, as well as powerful machine learning models to help deliver unrivaled game analysis along with unique immersive experiences.
Kropf shared his excitement in a statement, revealing that Genius Sports is a recognizable technology leader in sports, powering companies across the globe.
"I look forward to supporting this continued growth and working with a remarkable team that has already positioned Genius Sports at the forefront of data and technology innovation in sport," added the company's new Group CTO.
Mark Locke, Genius Sports' CEO, shared the positive vibe and added: "I am thrilled to welcome Mark Kropf as our Group CTO."
He spoke about the executive's solid technology leadership experience accumulated through years of hard work at Pivotal and Google.
Moreover, Locke pointed to Kropf's extensive knowledge of AI, which, according to him, will play a major role in Genius Sports' future.
Finally, Locke said: "Our cutting-edge GeniusIQ platform is already driving the AI revolution in the global sports ecosystem and Mark's expertise will play a key role in amplifying and accelerating that transformation."
Prior to becoming a part of the C-suite at Genius Sports, Kropf was employed by Google.
He held the role of Technical Director within the company's Office of the CTO.
Holding this key position, Kropf helped advance Google's generative AI capabilities.
Besides Google, he was also employed by Pivotal.
At the time, Kropf helped with the commercialization of the company's Cloud Foundry.
During his time at Pivotal, he helped lead the Office of the CTO.
Throughout his career, the executive accumulated a range of skills, unique experience and deep understanding within a range of sectors.
Overall, Kropf has more than two decades of experience in tech leadership.
Undoubtedly, this solid knowledge will help him in his new leadership role at Genius Sports.
