  • BetBlocker has taken another landmark expansion stride with a new language localization
  • The tool has now been introduced in Arabic and can serve up to 400m people
  • Duncan Garvie, BetBlocker's Founder and Trustee, is proud of what this means for serving vulnerable gamblers

BetBlocker, an esteemed charity that provides anonymous and free-to-use blocking software to exclude oneself from gambling globally, has localized its tool into a new language - Arabic.

This marks a significant milestone for the company, which is looking to consolidate its presence across international communities and bring the help many consumers need in their native languages.

BetBlocker gets a new milestone localization to support hundreds of millions of people

BetBlocker has been a true outlier in delivering self-exclusion services, starting as a tool meant for anglophones but rapidly scaling its offer to cover other languages, such as Spanish, French, Catalan, Japanese, Serbian, and more. A Finnish translation was backed by Casino Guru.

The charity has analyzed at-risk communities specifically and introduced its tool in those areas or regions speaking the relevant languages, including translations into three Zambian dialects, indicating a strong dedication to helping consumers where they need help.

With more than 5% of the world’s population speaking Arabic as their first language, BetBlocker now hopes to render its services available to some 400m people.

Duncan Garvie, BetBlocker Founder and Trustee, was overjoyed with the implications of the translation and what it means for communities at-risk and the charity’s own unflagging mission to provide help where help is needed:

"With a few notable exceptions, BetBlocker’s language support has unintentionally focused on Indo-European languages. Translating has really helped BetBlocker expand its reach, as is evidenced by almost 300k active users supported this year. But this focus has omitted support for some of the biggest communities in the world.

The launch of our Arabic support is the start of what I hope to be a diversification of the communities that can access BetBlocker’s support."

Garvie thanked Malek Zioutini, who landed his support in helping BetBlocker make the Arabic localization of the tool and the charity’s efforts a reality.
