Omos exclusive interview: WWE star speaks on Rey Mysterio feud, alliance with Dom Mysterio and predictions for Sunday Night's Main Event

WWE star Omos has given his opinions on some of the biggest current storylines that are happening in both WWE and AAA in an exclusive interview with Casino Guru.

The former WWE Raw Tag Team Champion discussed his ongoing feud with the AAA GM Rey Mysterio, his recent alliance with Dominik Mysterio after previous disputes and what the future could hold for his own WWE return.

Omos also gave his verdict on the big match up's on Sunday Nights Main Event; Cody Rhodes v Randy Orton and Oba Femi v Bron Breakker. He reflected on working under The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar's legacy, and revealed which opponents he wants to face next.

Casino Guru: TripleMania, the night one is in Las Vegas next month. You've wrestled in Vegas several times before. Just a question about Vegas in general. How do you find it wrestling there compared to other cities in the US and the world?

Omos"Vegas is amazing because it's one of the few attraction cities in the US where you can actually just go there and do a plethora of things. People think Vegas is just for gambling, but I think there's more. There's a lot of shows you can go to and a lot of fun things to do in Vegas, it's not just gambling. There's a lot of good food and me as a huge foodie, you know, being 7'3" and almost 400 pounds, I love to eat, so I definitely love me some good food. So yeah, Vegas is an attraction city, going back there is going to be nothing short of amazing. I don't doubt it."

CG: A question about Rey Mysterio. You and Rey have an ongoing feud in the AAA and recently you had him up for a chokeslam but didn't follow through. What ultimately made you decide to put him down? Why did you stop?

Omos: "Sometimes, you know, you got to learn to put the fear of God in people. So I had to let him know that even though you're the GM, I can still handle you. I can handle you and I can put you up for as long as I want to, hold you and push you over the edge without actually pushing you over and make you feel scared for your life and that you want to poop yourself. But also being able to bring you back and let you know who I am. It was a scare tactic and it worked perfectly. It was just as good as me talking. I thought about slamming his ass, but the next time he tries me, I will slam his ass."

CG: Then as a result of that, you were banned from AAA events and arenas. Do you plan on respecting that ban, or will we get a little secret appearance of Omos in the next few weeks?

Omos: "As of right now I'm speaking with my lawyers because he always talks about if you have a problem you can always get lawyers. So I'm speaking with my lawyers right now and we shall see where the story goes as it unfolds."

CG: Your match with Galeno, that was supposed to earn you that place in the AAA Latin American Championship match, but after everything that's happened, Priest was given the spot instead. Has this situation with Rey Mysterio become personal?

Omos: "Very, very personal because I was a champion for about 30 seconds until he interrupted me, and I am still the rightful heir to that belt. But since he's a general manager and he wants to push his weight around, I will also let him know what it feels like to be under a 400-pound man"

CG: Let’s talk about Dominik Mysterio, if he ends up beating El Grande Americano, who do you think is the biggest possible opponent for him next?

Omos: "There's a ton of opponents you know, but as long as we're together I don't think he has any tough opponents. We're together in El Ojo, we're all one, we talk, we're a bit of a conglomerate. So, I think as long as he has me, there's no threat."

CG: He's establishing himself right now as one of the best and hated heels of his generation. Do you think he's already one of the best heels that WWE's had in the modern era, or has he still got a way to go yet?

Omos: "I think currently, yes. I think one of the greatest heels obviously is going to be Eddie Guerrero. Eddie Guerrero was one of the greatest heels, so Eddie Guerrero, JBL. But I think he's well on his way and as long as we're together, he's going to surpass him in a heartbeat."

CG: You've wrestled both Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar. Who do you think is stronger? And do you think that Obi has the potential to surpass his legacy in WWE?

Omos: "Brock's legacy is one of myth that when you speak about it doesn't sound real? Because if my memory is serving me right, his first run was only 2 years and then he left and his impact in 2 years, I don't think we've ever felt such impact. Do I think Oba is on his way? Sure. But only time will tell, he's still 6 to 8 months in, so we'll see. Brock was gone for about 8, 9 years and then came back and came back even hotter. So that is what I call a rare phenomenon. Only time will tell, we don't know."

CG: Oba Femi and Bron Breakker got into a huge brawl at their contract signing. Both men are claiming to be the future of WWE. You've shared the ring with Oba, but who do you see as the future of the company out of them two?

Omos: "You're making me choose here. Who do I think is the future? I mean, we shall see how it ends next weekend. They're both fighting for the spot and it's up for the taking. It could be tricky, so we'll see."

CG: How do you see that battle going on Sunday Night's Main Event?

Omos: "It's definitely going to be a war, let's get out of the way. Both guys both have a chip on their shoulder, one more than the other, and they both have something to prove. They're trying to stake their claim of who's going to be the future of the business, and rightfully so. It's going to be very interesting and intriguing to see how it plays out, but I need to go ahead and add, as we got a taste at the contract signing, I would say Oba does have the upper hand."

CG: If Oba does win there are a lot of people he could face, but is there anyone you'd like him to see face after this if he wins, or is there anyone out there left for him to conquer?

Omos: "He'll be here for years to come, but if he comes out on top, I want to see him and Big Cass go at it because I think that'll make for a great feud, you know, somewhat of a big guy versus a big guy, him as a super babyface going against a heel. So that would be great."

CG: Speaking of Big Cass, now he's back in WWE is that a match you'd like to have in the future if possible?

Omos: "Yeah, of course, it's a match I'd love to have in the future because, you know, I'm the only true giant in this business."

CG: Last year you joked that Oba Femi needed to respect his elders. After everything he's accomplished since then, has he earned that respect?

Omos: "Obviously yeah, but he still needs to respect his elders. That's just culture where I'm from. No matter how big you get you always should respect your elders. It never changes."

CG: Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton will be settling their feud at Sunday Night's Main Event. Do you have a side and who do you think wins? Is there a way you see this match going?

Omos: "I think Randy has the edge because I think he has a point to prove. Randy has everybody coming in young and hungry and sometimes that gives you an edge."

CG: Cody has spoken about Randy being his mentor. Do you think that history makes this rivalry more dangerous and personal than a normal feud we see in WWE?

Omos: "Yeah, absolutely. Because who knows you more than your mentor? Someone who taught you the ropes and taught you everything and your foundations. Now the question is, does the student surpass the master? And that's what we're going to find out."

CG: Do you feel like Cody Rhodes has been taking kind of a heel turn recently compared to where he used to stand in WWE?

Omos: "I think a little bit. I think he's being pushed, but I would love to see him as a heel because I think he'll be phenomenal as a heel, very Homelander-Esque in his nature, I think would be great and plus he already has a very punchable face, so that helps."

CG: I think we've seen a lot more of an aggressive side to Cody in recent times. Do you think Randy's bringing something out of Cody that we've just not seen before?

Omos: "Absolutely. That's the great thing about Randy. Randy has been in this business for so long and he has been good, actually, not just good, he's been great. He knows what buttons to push, when to push them, and how to get the most out of anybody that he's working with. He's one of our very best."

CG: There's been some growing tension between Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu. Do you think Jacob's going to be the man that turns on him? And if they face off, how would you see that going?

Omos: "That's going to be a tricky one because the culture is very different, right? So do you go against your elders and then betray your family, or do you align with the elders and stay with your family? That's a story that has to just play out. In that storyline, culture plays a huge aspect into what they're doing, so only time will tell."

CG: If Triple H told you to pick anyone from the roster for WrestleMania next year at 43, who's standing across the ring from you?

Omos: "I mean, there's a plethora of guys that's good, but I would say Cody. You need a super babyface that needs something to conquer."

CG: Then anyone retired or former wrestlers?

Omos: "That's easy. Undertaker."

CG: Penta and Rey Fenix will face each other to for the chance to challenge Roman Reigns for the championship, World Heavyweight, in Mexico City. Who do you think has the better chance of eventually dethroning Roman out of the two?

Omos: "That's going to be tough. They have to bring their A-game. They're going to put up a good fight, but don’t even know if anyone’s going to be able to defeat Roman. Roman has done a good job of encapsulating himself."

CG: Who has hit you the hardest in your entire career?

Omos: "I'll say Brock first and Bobby Lashley second. Those two guys have been the hardest hitters I've been in the ring with."

CG: Who on the current roster do you think you'd have the best chemistry with that you've not faced yet?

Omos: "Je'Von Evans would be a good one. Obviously Oba, we've been in the ring, so we have good chemistry. I'll throw Roman in there because look, nobody has really faced any true giant in this modern era, and that's the situation. So Cody, Trick, everybody, anybody can get it. You know where to find me."

CG: When you do eventually return to WWE, what do you want this version of Omos to look like?

Omos: "This new version of Omos is a very sophisticated renaissance gentleman, bringing the cool back, but in his way, but also menacing, but very, very different from the Omos you guys met previously."

CG: What's the best piece of advice The Undertaker has given you?

Omos: "Work big, work big, work big, be big"

CG: And would you ever want to see him return, or do you think that is it now?

Omos: "Of course it's done after WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia. It's done, it's over."

CG: The best talker in WWE at the moment?

Omos: "Trick is amazing. Oba and Montez are amazing. I can't give it to one guy. Everybody's good. Everybody's on their A-game. Solo is also amazing, you know he's finally coming out of his shell and being present. Everybody's really good."

CG: The Maverick, Logan Paul. How do you find him in WWE? How do you find his presence?

Omos: "He's good. He brings a different type of audience to our brand and he's done a tremendous job. It's just sucks that right now he's currently nursing an injury but he's done an amazing job. I think once he truly dives into his character, he's going to be well on his way. In some ways the injury, has kind of slowed him down. But sometimes when you're away from this business you have a chance to reset, figure out who you want to be, what you want to look like, how you want to present yourself. It gives a chance for new growth and for people to view you differently and for you to have a different presentation. So, I hope he's working on that because it would be a shame if he didn't."

CG: I agree. I think his athleticism is incredible.

Omos: "You know, playing sports my whole life as a former basketball player, there are guys who you just call athletes that no matter what sport you put them in, that it's just going to click. He's just one of those guys, you can just throw him in there and it's going to click because he's just an athlete."

CG: Final question about Cody Rhodes again. He said he's got unfinished business with The Rock, do you think we need and the WWE needs to give us that Rock v Cody, bringing The Rock back?

Omos: "I don't know, man. I don't make the rules. I don't know. We shall see. But one thing I know is if it does happen, it would be amazing, but only time will tell. We don't know. I don't know."

CG: Is it something you'd want to see?

Omos: "Absolutely. I'm sure everybody wants to see that. Everyone wants to see Rock vs Cody, Rock vs Roman and he's never really officially retired anyway. We know Steve Austin had hung it up, he had his last match in Dallas with Kevin Owens but he hasn't really officially retired. Batista had his retirement match. AJ Styles had a retirement match. John Cena last year. So we shall see."

Omos Speaks On His Personal Fragrance Line

CG: You've got your own fragrance. What initially made you get into fragrances, and how have you found having your personal line?

Omos "To be honest, fragrances have always been a part of my life. My Dad living back in Lagos, Nigeria, used to collect fragrances. He worked at an international port, so he had a stash of fragrances and I always remembered him having a collection. It wasn't until I went back a couple years ago that I realized he was just as much of a collector as I was. He didn't have as much as I have, because I think I took it to a whole different level, but he had about like a 20-set of fragrances that he wore on his dresser. You know, those moments where you go back to go see your parents and you see a trait that you didn't know that was common between both of you. It was one of those very surreal moments that happened for me. I've always kind of liked fragrances since my dad introduced me to them."

"It really didn't kick off until my first trip to Saudi Arabia. It was the first time out of the pandemic that WWE had gone back and done a show, and at the hotel that we stayed at, they had a local perfumery. Over there in the Middle East, they have this style of fragrances called Bakhoor. It's where they take a special oud bark and they burn it into incense and they use the fragrance to scent their hair and their clothes. I had that experience for the first time and it was extremely transformative and it blew my socks off and ever since then I got hooked. It's like I caught a bug the day that happened and then that led to me starting to build my own collection. Then from building my own collection, starting my fragrance YouTube channel. From there I thought about creating my own fragrance, but kind of took a pause in it, and then I was approached by a company here in the US, who said "hey, we love what you do, it'll be a great venture for us, we've done this collab before, but we've never had someone like you."

"So it helped me in that manner where they came out to me and I already kind of had an idea of what I wanted, but I learned a lot during the process of making my own fragrance, from the buying of the various oils that you have to buy, working with all the flavor houses mostly based in France, learning about flavor houses and perfumers and different ingredients and sourcing for the package of the fragrance, the boxes, caps, the atomizers. Just learning of what it took to create a fragrance and it actually gave me a great appreciation for what it takes to make a one. It's not as easy as people think it is. It's actually quite challenging. So I did learn a lot. I learned a lot about marketing, being able to market more fragrances, my own personal brand outside of the WWE. So it was a great experience. We launched last year and we sold out of everything.

"It was like a short collab that we did and it did great. I'm very, very proud of it. Shout out to Zaharoff. That's the name of the brand I collabed with. They're based in Chicago, Illinois, and it was an amazing partnership."
