The Boardwalk was first built in 1870. At the time, beachfront hotel owners tried to keep sand away from their lobbies. However, with years passing by the popularity of the Boardwalk continued to grow, helping it expand in both width and length.

As of 2024, the Atlantic City Boardwalk is a whopping five and a half miles long or just short of 9 km. The Boardwalk stretches along the Atlantic Ocean coastline for a total of four miles. However, an extra one mile and a half mile of Boardwalk helps it connect Ventor City.

Stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean are only one of the benefits of the Boardwalk. Its strategic location helps connect hotel and casino resorts along the coastline. Visitors can enjoy views of the ocean on one side, while on the other, there are stunning shopping and dining outlets.

The Boardwalk helps connect guests from Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Atlantic City, Ocean Casino Resort, Bally's Atlantic City, as well as Caesars Atlantic City, among others, providing a plethora of entertainment options.
