Casinos are often targeted by criminals, considering that such establishments usually handle large sums of cash.
In one recent robbery case in Missouri, two attackers stole more than $1m before fleeing.
Days later, one suspect was identified and arrested while police are looking for his accomplice.
Last week, the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDCC) uncovered details regarding a robbery that took place at the Isle of Capri Casino in Boonville.
On March 25, 2026, at approximately 2:13 PM, two armed attackers entered the casino.
One of the robbers was armed with a handgun, while the other one was wielding a rifle.
Both robbers were dressed in black, wore masks, hats and sunglasses, the DDCC confirms.
The culprits wasted no time and headed straight to the bank area at Isle of Capri Casino.
Accessing the area, the attackers stole approximately $1,276,000.
While trying to leave the venue, one of the attackers was tackled by a casino patron.
Consequently, a brawl began and the second attacker attempted to free his accomplice by hitting the casino patron.
The two robbers then successfully exited the property and fled to an unknown location.
An investigation by the DDCC into the robbery at Isle of Capri Casino identified a 21-year-old Columbia resident, an employee of the casino, as a suspect.
With a probable cause for his arrest, law enforcement approached the casino employee while he was at work on the evening on March 26, 2026.
The suspect was advised of his rights and, following an interview, was arrested by law enforcement.
While initially, the 21-year-old man was held on a 24-hour hold at the Cooper County Jail, on the next day, the Cooper County Prosecuting Attorney formally charged the suspect with Robbery in the First Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Armed Criminal Action and Tampering with Physical Evidence in a Felony Prosecution.
The suspect's bond was set at $1.3m and he remains in custody at the Cooper County Jail.
According to law enforcement, the 21-year-old suspect's accomplice was a 20-year-old male from Normal, Illinois.
Police are currently trying to find and arrest the second suspected robber.
