One fortunate woman who stopped to fill her car's gas tank filled her bank account, too, after scoring a sweet six-figure lottery prize.
That’s the story of a Macomb County, Michigan, woman who emerged as the winner of a recent Fantasy 5 drawing.
The lucky 72-year-old woman stopped for gas and decided to try her luck with the popular game.
The winner, who preferred to stay anonymous, bought her winning ticket at winning ticket at the Sunoco on 25100 Little Mack Avenue in St. Clair Shores.
In an interview for a Michigan Lottery official, the Macomb County woman admitted that after stopping to get gas, she decided to buy a Fantasy 5 ticket.
She revealed that she wanted to try her luck as she saw that the Fantasy 5 jackpot was growing.
Then, the fortunate winner said: "I was watching TV later that night and checked my ticket when the winning numbers came up on the screen."
Admitting that winning the $655,130 jackpot from Fantasy 5 felt unbelievable, the winner added: "A feeling of relief instantly came over me when I realized I’d matched all five numbers to win the jackpot."
The 72-year-old Macomb County woman visited the Lottery headquarters recently to claim the unexpected windfall.
When asked about her plans for her newfound fortune, the woman admitted that she will complete some home renovations and save what’s left.
Each Fantasy 5 ticket costs $1 per play and it grants players a chance to win a prize between $1 and an accumulating jackpot.
To win the game’s jackpot prize, players need to match five out of five winning numbers.
An extra $1 per play unlocks the game’s EZmatch option, granting players a chance to instantly win a prize of up to $500.
On the other hand, the Fantasy 5 Double Play feature costs an extra $1 per play and enables players to enter theirt icket into the game’s nightly Double Play drawing for a chance of a win of up to $110,000.
The odds of winning the Fantasy 5 jackpot during the game’s regular drawing are 1 in 575,757.
The overall odds of winning any prize from the popular lottery game are 1 in 9.
