Michigan lottery player wins $300K from $5 scratch-off ticket

An avid lottery player’s $5 scratch-off ticket brought her a life-changing six-figure prize.

The winner, an Oakland County woman, scored one of the top prizes from the Michigan Lottery’s Fireball Bingo instant game and is now planning to buy a new car.

The player nearly missed the game's top prize

The fortunate player, who chose to remain anonymous, admitted that she likes playing lottery games.

The 46-year-old woman confirmed that she usually buys Cashword and Bingo tickets a few times a week.

Stopping at the Speedway on 6980 Rochester Road in Rochester, the woman decided to buy a few Fireball Bingo tickets.

The woman then proceeded to scratch off the tickets and was just about to leave the gas station.

"I was about to leave the gas station, but something was telling me to go in and buy another one, so I did and scratched it in my car when I got home," the lucky woman explained in an interview for the Michigan Lottery.

Then, the Oakland County woman scratched off the ticket and instantly saw a "blackout," which meant that she had won the game’s top prize for a sweet $300,000 payday.

She immediately ran inside and gave the winning ticket to her mom to check.

Once the winner’s mum was sure of the win, she looked at her child and said "Oh my gosh!"

In disbelief, the player scanned the ticket with the Michigan Lottery application to confirm the win again.

Recalling the moment, she was absolutely sure of the life-changing prize, the winner said she fell to her knees.

"I haven’t been able to put into words what winning this prize means to me. All I can say is that it’s an unbelievable blessing," the player added.

After claiming her newfound fortune earlier this week, the woman admitted that she plans to buy a new car and save the rest of the winnings.

Fireball Bingo offers various prizes

Each Fireball Bingo scratch-off ticket costs $5 and offers players a chance to win a prize between $5 and $300,000.

The top prize won by the Oakland County woman marked the first $300,000 prize from the popular instant game that debuted in May.

Two more top prizes of $300,000 each remain in play from the $5 ticket.

A tier-two prize from Fireball Bingo awards $10,000 and out of 10 such prizes initially, five are up for grabs.

A tier-three prize from the $5 instant game awards $2,000 and there are 42 such prizes in play.

Within the lower prize tiers, between $500 and $5, many more prizes are yet to be won by Michigan players.

The overall odds of winning any prize from Fireball Bingo are 1 in 3.93.
