Maryland cashier plans to play more golf after $500K scratch-off win

That's the story of one Worcester County resident who scored the top prize from the Maryland Lottery's Bonus Bingo X20 2nd Edition ticket.

"I'm going to keep working"

The winner, who has been working at a grocery store for more than 26 years, decided to give the ticket a try before his shift started.

While the fortunate man bought the $20 Bonus Bingo X20 ticket, it wasn't until his lunch break when he decided to scratch it off.

Initially, the winner thought that he had won $1,000 from the popular lottery game.

However, as he continued to reveal winning numbers, the Worcester County man understood that the prize was much bigger than what he had initially thought.

In the end, his winning ticket revealed the top $500,000 prize from the game.

The cashier spoke with excitement about the moment he realized he had just won a life-changing sum, saying he was "amazed."

Unlike some lottery players who plan lavish getaways and splurging, the Worcester County man said he doesn't plan any major changes.

In fact, the winner said: "I'm not going to change. I'm going to keep working."

While the incredibly lucky man said he will continue working the job he has worked for nearly three decades, he admitted that he will keep playing bingo-style scratch-off tickets from the Maryland Lottery.

As an avid golfer, the fortunate winner said he will certainly dedicate more time to playing his favorite game too.

Each Bonus Bingo X20 ticket costs $20 and grants players a chance to win a prize between $20 and $500,000.

After the most recent top prize win, now, two prizes of $500,000 each remain in play.

On the other hand, out of a total of seven tier-two prizes of $50,000 each, three are still up for grabs.

A tier-three prize from the Bonus Bingo X20 ticket pays $10,000 and there are 20 remaining in play.

Within the lower prize tiers between $5,000 and $20, many more prizes are up for grabs.

The overall odds of winning any prize from the $20 Bonus Bingo X20 ticket are 1 in 2.96.
