  • The winner plans to pay some bills and spend more time fishing and gardening
  • Bonus Match 5 drawings take place every evening, seven days a week

There's a popular saying that lightning doesn't strike twice. Yet, one fortunate Maryland man, who had won a $50,000 less than two years ago, once again emerged as the winner of a top prize from Bonus Match 5.

Fortunate man scores second top prize from Bonus Match 5

The fortunate man, a government retiree, won the $50,000 top prize from Bonus Match 5 on March 18, 2026, the Maryland Lottery announced Monday.

The winner purchased his ticket at EZ Quick Food Market located at 231 Mountain Road in Pasadena.

The lucky Anne Arundel County man bought a $6 ticket with nine lines of numbers.

Once he decided to check his Bonus Match 5 ticket, the man was stunned to see that he won the game's top prize for a sweet $50,000 payday.

Standing in disbelief, the two-time winner asked his wife to confirm the win, which she did.

The $50,000 prize came from the winner's fifth line on the ticket, where he matched all five numbers drawn on March 18.

Interestingly, this wasn't the first win for the Anne Arundel County man.

Back in June 2024, he had tried his luck with a Bonus Match 5 ticket and once again won the game's top prize for $50,000.

Realizing that he is now a two-time winner, the fortunate man celebrated the unexpected windfall with his wife, just like the previous time he won in 2024.

Visiting the Maryland Lottery to collect his newfound fortune, the winner admitted that he plans to pay some bills.

At the same time, the government retiree said that he likes fishing and gardening.

Bonus Match 5 grants players a chance to win prizes daily

Available to Maryland Lottery players aged 18 and above, Bonus Match 5 costs between $1 and $6 per payslip.

A $1 payslip offers three boards, while a $6 payslip grants players access to nine boards.

On each board, players need to pick five numbers between 1 and 39.

If they don't want to manually select the numbers, players can use the game's "Quick Pick" selection for randomly selected numbers.

Bonus Match 5 drawings take place every evening, seven days a week.

When purchasing their ticket, players can select if they want the same numbers to participate in subsequent drawings.

The odds of winning the $50,000 top prize from Bonus Match 5 on a $1 ticket are 1 in 575,757, whereas those odds on a $2 ticket are 1 in 191,919.

Within the lower prize tiers, players can win prizes between $600 and $2.
