An incredibly lucky Iowa player’s $1 Lotto America ticket brought them a life-changing multi-million-dollar prize.
The winner matched all winning numbers from the game’s Saturday drawing to take down the $6.14m jackpot.
Lotto America saw winning numbers 12, 13, 21, 40, 49 and Lotto America Star Ball 2 numbers drawn on Saturday.
A single ticket, purchased in Iowa, matched all winning numbers to hit the game’s jackpot.
Interestingly, the win marks the only third time a jackpot from Lotto America has been won in Iowa.
Before this $6.14m jackpot hit, the last time players from Iowa won the top prize from the popular game was in 2023 and 2018.
On April 1, 2023, a fortunate player matched all winning numbers to hit the $40m jackpot from the game.
Before that, on May 5, 2018, another lucky Lotto America player in Iowa matched all winning numbers for a $4.38m payday.
The jackpot winner from Saturday can either collect the entire $6.14m prize via 30 increasing payments over 29 years or take home a one-time lump cash sum of approximately $2.53m.
It is worth noting that both sums are before the applicable state and federal taxes.
Each Lotto America ticket costs $1 per play, and the game’s drawings take place on the same nights as Powerball - Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Lotto America offers better odds of winning a prize compared to Powerball, considering that the game has a smaller field of numbers.
The odds of taking down the Lotto America jackpot are 1 in 25.9m, whereas the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2m.
To win the top prize from Lotto America, players need to match five numbers between 1 and 52 and one Lotto America Ball Star number from 1 to 10 with the winning numbers drawn.
The game’s jackpot starts at $2m and continues to grow until won.
Before the jackpot win in Iowa, a player from Minnesota last won the top prize on July 18, 2026, for a $34.12m payday.
