  • SBC Summit is returning on September 16-18 with a focus on player safety
  • The Player Protection stage will address three distinct topics – regulation, tech, and research
  • SBC Summit will reunite some of the most influential voices in player safety and player protection

SBC Summit 2025 will once again focus on ensuring that the event advances the core tenets of responsible and sustainable play at one of the industry’s major get-togethers through the launch of the Player Protection stage.

Bringing 30,000 delegates together to address player protection

The stage is returning for yet another edition, and it has become a central piece of the event, which is set to take place on September 16-18 at the Feira Internacional de Lisboa. The Player Protection stage will be accessible to 30,000 delegates who will have the opportunity to examine how technology and regulation can impact safety standards and player behavior for the better, ensuring sustainable and responsible play.

SBC CEO and Founder Rasmus Sojmark has welcomed the opportunity to see the Player Protection stage continue to deliver on its core mission and raise the standards industry-wide for what a sustainable gaming model is.

"Player protection has rightly evolved from a regulatory checkbox to a core business strategy. As global frameworks tighten and consumer expectations rise, the operators that succeed long term will be those that genuinely embed safety into their model," Sojmark remarked.

To make the stage more impactful, each day will be dedicated to something different, allowing delegates to fully focus their attention on one specific area. Regulation will be discussed on Tuesday, September 16, focusing on regulation and unintended consequences, strict compliance measures, and whether they drive players offshore.

On Thursday, September 17, the discussions will pivot towards how research can have a practical impact on player protection. The discussions will specifically focus on how AI is impacting player behavior and why unlicensed websites continue to attract new players despite the implied risks.

From regulation to research, to technology

The discussions will also focus on global approaches to affordability and risk management, and how to best protect players while upholding an uncompromising approach to player safety.

Not least, there will be Thursday, September 18, when the day will be fully focused on technology and how new and emerging tech can help keep players safe, and how different platforms deploy these solutions.

Among the attendees who will appear on the stage are some of the most influential voices in responsible gambling, among whom are Katie Reynolds-Jones(Chief Marketing Officer, GamStop), Monica Shafaq (CEO, Gordon Moody), Dr Alexandra Koerner(Chief Legal & Compliance Officer, Grand Casino Baden AG), Richard Hayler(Managing Director, IBAS), David Foster(Head of Regulatory Affairs, Entain), Savo Bakmaz(CEO, Maxbet),Dr Maris Catania(Director of Player Sustainability, LeoVegas).
