SBC Summit North America, due to take place early next week in May, has detailed one of the focuses of the event, with one of the largest gambling industry gatherings taking a special look at tribal operations in the region and beyond. The "Tribal Symposium" has been confirmed by the hosts, with this specific track to take place on the second day of the event on Thursday, May 9.

The Tribal Symposium will introduce delegates to various topics that have to do with the tribal gaming sector in the United States and North America, and discuss sports betting, iGaming, and the current regulatory sector, among many other interesting topics. The Symposium already has several interesting discussions that delegates would like to explore further.

"Michigan: A Tribal Success Story" is among the first panels that delegates may be interested in attending, as the event will take a harder look at the current iGaming and sports betting operations in Michigan. The discussion will reunite a number of experts, including:

  • Denise Petoskey (Gaming Authority Vice-Chair, Odawa Casino Resort)
  • Raquel Buari (Attorney & Casino Executive, Four Winds Casino)
  • Matt Stemkoski (Primary Executive Official, Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians)
  • Robert Russell (Gaming Analyst, Regulatory Management Counselors, PC)

Next, there is the Tribal Leaders panel, "Elevating Tribal Gaming: How Can the Industry Ensure This Sector Continues to Thrive," which will address the challenges the sector faces and how it can best proceed forward with the ultimate goal of driving sustained growth.

  • Justin Barrett (Treasurer, Eastern Shawnee Tribe)
  • Melinda Coffin (CEO, Soaring Eagle Gaming)

The panel will be moderated by Jamie Hummingbird (Chairman, NTGCR). Another interesting discussion will finally take a look at the dynamic changes in California. In "California Dreaming - Is There a Second Shot at 26 and 27?" speakers will address the changing regulatory makeup of the market, and whether sports betting would soon be possible.

The tribes and private advocates for sports gambling have been clashing over the issue for several years now.

  • Frank Sizemore (Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, FanDuel)
  • Andrew Alejandre (Tribal Chairman, Paskenta Band of Nomlaki).

The panel is moderated by Jason Rosenberg (CEO, American iGaming Solutions). Not least, the event wants to look at some of the unpalatable aspects of the industry and address issues such as human trafficking.

"Human Trafficking in Casinos: Identifying and Responding to Risk" will take on the sensitive topic straight up in the company of George Jenkot (Vice-President of Security and Surveillance, Fire Keepers Casino Hotel) and moderator Jeanie Hovland (Vice-chair, NIGC).

The SBC Summit North America is just around the corner with the event taking place between May 7-9.
