DraftKings has announced that it has reached an agreement with the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, which will allow the company to set up a retail sportsbook operation at the tribe’s Lake of the Torches Resort Casino, Casino Guru News learned in an email press release.
The operations are set to begin on Wednesday, August 28 and will effectively make DraftKings Sportsbook available to customers in 28 states, as well as Washington, D.C. and Ontario, Canada, giving the company a large footprint across the North American market.
DraftKings will be kicking off with six betting kiosks as well as offer over-the-counter betting located on the casino floor, and next to the sports bar, Woody’s Bar & Grill. This marks an important chapter in the success story DraftKings has been trying to write in the United States, as confirmed by company VP of Retail Sportsbooks Michael Kibort.
According to Kibort, DraftKings has already established a great rapport with its new partners and is looking forward to bringing the best possible sports betting experience to local players in Wisconsin.
"Providing a best-in-class customer experience has always been a top priority for our company and the opportunity to deliver that experience to customers in yet another state is a proud moment for DraftKings," Kibort said.
The sportsbook will be available to players who are at least 21 years of age. Commenting on this opportunity, Lake of the Torches Resort Casino CEO Bill Guelcher has welcomed the opportunity to host one of America’s most prominent sportsbooks.
He said that the Lake of the Torches was indeed excited to have retail betting offered directly on the premises' gambling floor.
"Our goal is to implement sports betting operations with a strong brand recognition and extremely high-quality product performance, and we’re honored to collaborate with DraftKings as an industry leader," Guelcher teased as of the property’s broader ambitions.
Lake of Torches has much to offer regarding hospitality and gaming experiences. The casino floor features more than 800 slot machines along with dedicated blackjack table games and progressive jackpots.
The casino, situated in Pokegama Lake in the Northwoods, has much to offer, including pleasant scenery and modern casino resort-grade entertainment. Starting tomorrow, this will include a dedicated retail sportsbook.
The new entry comes shortly after DraftKings announced that it would not be going ahead with plans to introduce an unpopular surcharge.
