DraftKings announces planned launch of online sportsbook in Kansas

DraftKings Inc. has confirmed its plans to launch its online sportsbook in Kansas on Thursday. The company’s launch comes at an important time for all sports betting operators in the United States, and the newly-regulated market in Kansas – the NFL season. The launch is also customary receipt of regulatory approvals applies.

The NFL though is just part of the sports betting bonanza that awaits, with college football also getting underway. DraftKings though is prepared for both events, bringing a number of markets and special odds boosts to provide local sports fans with the best possible experience.

This marks the 18th state in which DraftKings will have its online sportsbook available or over half of the regulated sports gambling markets in the United States. DraftKings is teaming up with Boot Hill Casino & Resort, which will allow locals to place their wagers online and in person. DraftKings Co-founder and President Matt Kalish shared his excitement about the upcoming football season and the opportunity to cater to the Kansas gaming market.

"It’s an especially exhilarating time of year, and we are excited for eligible Kansans to be able to get in on all the action through DraftKings’ seamless and responsible sports betting experience," Kalish added commenting on the launch.

A big focus on the launch is based on responsible gambling, which is a core tenet of the company’s S.E.R.V.E.S. initiative. DraftKings is using what it describes as groundbreakingtechnology to ensure that consumers are always getting the best experience in the safest environment possible.

Fans can access the DraftKings online sportsbook by opting for it on mobile Android or iOS devices and dive right into the market. September 1 also marks the soft launch of sports betting in Kansas with the full launch to take place a week from now, on September 8. There are other companies arriving for soft launch week and to the Sunflower State in general.

They include Bally Bet, Golden Nugget, Kansas Star Casino, Hollywood Casino, Barstool Sportsbook, Fox Bet Sportsbook, BetMGM, PointsBet, and Caesars Entertainment. Earlier this week, Casino Guru reported that DraftKings’ subsidiary Golden Nugget Online Gaming LLC is also awaiting regulatory approval from the state.

Kansas is the latest sports betting state to go live and just on time for the football season which is associated with the biggest sports betting handle. Meanwhile, Ontario in Canada just posted its first quarter results for iGaming, generating close to $4.1bn for the period between April 4 and June 30.
