One fortunate woman, who has been using the same lottery numbers for a decade, had a sleepless night after winning a life-changing prize.

The fortunate player nearly missed out on the jackpot, but luckily, she listened to her husband and her numbers came up.

Winner bags AU$1m from Weekday Windfall

That’s the story of one Taree, New South Wales, Australia woman, who scored the top prize from a recent Weekday Windfall drawing.

The fortunate woman entered the game’s drawing on Monday, September 21, 2026.

She purchased her 6-game entry via The Lott’s official app and, surprisingly, emerged as the single division one winning entry across Australia from draw 4758.

As a result, the Taree woman took home a life-changing AU$1m ($703,800) prize.

The fortunate woman initially didn’t believe she won

The Lott contacted the fortunate woman to give her the good news.

Laughing, the winner admitted that she is still wrapping her head around the life-changing prize.

"I checked my ticket last night, but I'm one of those people who doesn't quite believe it until it's official," the winner added.

An avid lottery player, the woman shad that she has been playing since The Lott started and has always used the same numbers.

As it turns out, the player’s magic numbers were a combination of birthdays.

The winner nearly missed the life-changing prize after considering changing her numbers only recently.

"Actually, a couple of weeks ago I said, ‘I’m going to change these numbers up’ but my husband said, ‘Well, you never know, they could come out’, and so I kept them," the fortunate player said.

The Taree woman confirmed that after she saw her winning ticket, she showed it to her husband but, just like her, he didn’t believe the win was real.

Still, she explained that they both had trouble sleeping.

Asked about her plans for her lottery win, the incredibly lucky woman confirmed she will help her children.

The winner added that while she and her husband don’t plan anything "extravagant," they will likely consider a family vacation.
