One fortunate player who purchased lottery tickets while on vacation with family was surprised by a six-figure prize.
That's the case for a Macomb County woman, who won $500,000 from the Michigan Lottery's Linked Wins instant game.
The lucky winner was on vacation up north together with her sister and nephew.
While there, the woman, whose name wasn't publicly confirmed, decided to buy lottery tickets.
The winning ticket was purchased at Lewiston EZ Mart, located at 3521 County Road 612 in Lewiston.
Surprisingly, the $5 instant game ticket brought the player a life-enhancing $500,000 top prize.
In an interview for an official from the Michigan Lottery, the winner said that on that weekend, she bought a "bunch of lottery tickets."
"That night we all sat around the table and scratched the tickets. When I scratched the Linked Wins game and saw the $500,000 prize, we didn’t believe it," the fortunate woman added.
The winner explained that while they also scanned the ticket with the Michigan Lottery app and the win was once again confirmed, they still had a hard time believing.
"It was surreal," the Macomb County woman explained.
Last week, the fortunate woman visited the Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim her big win.
Interestingly, when asked about her plans for her newfound fortune, the Macomb County woman admitted that she plans to take another trip with her sister and nephew.
The winner said she also plans to invest some of the winnings.
Each $5 Linked Wins ticket grants players a chance to win a prize between $5 and $500,000.
The popular scratch-off offers overall odds of winning any prize of 1 in 4.05.
The Linked Wins instant game launched in December and since then, it has awarded more than $4m to players across Michigan.
The game offers more than $23m more prizes, including two top prizes of $500,000 each, as well as 11 prizes of $2,000, and many other prizes within the lower tiers.
