A Coeburn, Virginia resident, who was watching football, was surprised by a sweet six-figure scratch-off prize.
Earlier this week, the Virginia Lottery confirmed that the fortunate winner won a tier-two prize from its 50X The Money scratch-off ticket for a $200,000 payday.
The lucky man purchased his winning ticket at Roadrunner Market at 577 Front Street West in Coeburn.
The winner headed home but didn't scratch the ticket off.
However, while watching football, the Coeburn resident remembered he purchased a ticket and wanted to see if he had luck.
To his shock and surprise, he scratched off a tier-two prize from the 50X The Money game for $200,000.
The Coeburn man admitted to Lottery officials that he doesn't have any plans regarding the unexpected windfall.
The $20 50X The Money scratch off game grants players a chance to win a prize starting from $20, up to a top prize of $3m.
Upon launching the ticket earlier this year, there were three prizes of $200,000 each.
After the most recent win, two such prizes remain in play.
The ticket also offers a tier-one prize of $3m and out of three in total, two are up for grabs.
It's worth noting that to collect the entire $3m top prize, players need to select annuity payments for 30 years. Otherwise, a cash value awards $1.5m.
A tier-three prize from the game awards $20,000 and out of 10 such prizes, six are up for grabs from the $20 game.
Within the lower prize tiers, many more prizes between $2,000 and $20 await players of the 50X The Money game.
The odds of winning the game's top prize are 1 in 1,142,400.
The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.03.
