Two lucky lottery players in North Carolina scored six-figure prizes after trying their luck with scratch-off tickets.
The North Carolina Education Lottery confirmed Tuesday that an Edenton man, who tried his luck with a $30 scratch-off, won a life-changing $100,000 prize.
A prize of the exact size was also won by a Concord resident who won it from a $50 scratch-off ticket.
The first lottery winner purchased a $30 Millionaire Bucks ticket from Broad Street Mart on North Broad Street in Edenton.
To his surprise, he won one of the remaining tier-two prizes for a $100,000 payday.
The fortunate winner visited the Lottery headquarters on Monday this week.
Considering that federal and state taxes apply to lottery winnings in North Carolina, the Chowan County man's bank account increased by nearly $72,000.
The fortunate winner did not reveal if he had any plans regarding the unexpected windfall.
The odds of winning a tier-two prize from the Millionaire Bucks scratch-off game are 1 in 1,111,770.
After the latest $100,000 win, there are seven such prizes remaining in play.
On the other hand, the $30 scratch-off ticket also offers a top prize of $5m and there are three such prizes up for grabs with odds of 1 in 2,779,425.
The overall odds of winning any prize from Millionaire Bucks are 1 in 3.04.
As noted, another fortunate lottery player recently scored a hefty win in North Carolina.
The lucky Concord resident decided to give the $10 Million Spectacular ticket a try and was pleasantly surprised by a tier-three prize of $100,000.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Local Market on N.C. 49 South in Concord.
The Concord resident recently visited the Lottery to claim his big win. After the applicable state and federal taxes, the winner collected $71,764.
Similarly to the Chowan County man, the Cabarrus County winner, who scored the hefty win from the $10 Million Spectacular ticket, did not reveal if he had any plans regarding his newfound fortune.
The overall odds of winning any prize from the $50 ticket are 1 in 3.11.
Players who try their luck with the $10 Million Spectacular have a shot at winning two top prizes of $10m each.
On the other hand, the scratch-off game's tier-two prize is $1m and there are four such prizes in play, with the odds of winning one being 1 in 813,895.5.
