In North Carolina, two incredibly lucky lottery players won a six-figure prize each after trying their luck with popular scratch-off games from the North Carolina Education Lottery.
On Tuesday, the Lottery confirmed that a Brunswick County man won $100,000 from one of its scratch-off games.
A statement released by the Lottery confirmed that the lucky winner's name is Ricky Todd from Leland.
The fortunate man tried his luck by buying a $20 scratch-off ticket, for the Lottery's $2,000,000 Diamond Deluxe game.
Todd bought his ticket from Food Lion on Village Road in Leland.
To the man's surprise, the $20 ticket turned into a whopping $100,000 windfall as he collected one of the game's tier-two prizes.
The odds of winning $100,000 from the $2,000,000 Diamond Deluxe scratch-off game are 1 in 767,788.75.
After the Leland resident's win, there are three prizes of $100,000 each remaining in play.
Recently, Todd visited the Lottery headquarters to claim his prize.
Although the man did not reveal if he had any plans about the unexpected windfall, after the applicable taxes and fees he collected a sum of $71,506.
Besides $100,000 prizes, the scratch-off game grants a chance for $2,000,000.
With the odds of winning a top tier prize of $2m being 1 in 1,535,557.5, currently, there are three such prizes in play.
Overall, the odds of winning any prize from the popular scratch-off game are 1 in 3.22.
Besides the Brunswick County man, another lottery player scored a hefty win from a different scratch-off game.
According to the North Carolina Education Lottery, Amanda Oneal from Garner in Wake County became the latest winner of a top prize from Super Loteria.
The woman bought her $5 scratch-off ticket from Kia Quick Mart on N.C. 42 West in Clayton.
Undoubtedly, the winner did not expect that this $5 would turn into a whopping $150,000 win.
Super Loteria offers players a chance to win a prize between $5 and $150,000.
Following Oneal's win, there are five more top prizes remaining in play.
The odds of winning a $150,000 prize from Super Loteria are 1 in 1,214,680.
The lucky winner visited the Lottery headquarters earlier this week to claim her prize. After the required taxes, Oneal's bank account grew by $107,251.
