A fortunate man credited his lucky office outfit for a multi-million-dollar prize.
That’s the story of one Castle Hill, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia man, who scored a life-changing lottery win.
The player decided to buy lottery tickets earlier this month and picked Saturday Lotto.
He entered the game’s drawing on September 5, 2026, but only recently realized that he was among the division one winners.
Saturday Lotto draw 4709 produced a total of nine division one winning entries with winning numbers 40, 27, 17, 43, 5 and 38, along with supplementary numbers 2 and 39.
Each of the nine division one winning entries won a life-changing prize of AU$2,222,222.23 ($1.58m) and the fortunate Castle Hill dad was among the winners.
The fortunate man’s winning entry wasn’t registered with The Lott Members Club, which is why the lottery operator had to wait for the winner to come forward to claim his newfound fortune.
If the entry had been registered, the winner would have already been notified.
Interestingly, the lucky man attributed the win to a lucky office outfit he wore because of a meeting.
"I buy tickets and I don’t check them instantly. I put them in a bag and sometimes they sit three for two or three weeks, even a month. I didn’t know this ticket had won anything," the fortunate lottery player explained.
What’s more, the Castle Hill dad said: "Honestly, this is going to sound bizarre, but I normally wear a t-shirt and jeans, and I’m very casual but that day I had a work meeting, and I decided to wear some office attire."
After his work meeting, the man visited the newsagency where he usually buys tickets and met the owner.
Once the newsagency’s owner saw the winner, he asked, "It is you?" and the lucky man was immediately surprised because he thought the owner couldn’t recognize him because of his business attire.
What in fact happened was that the newsagency owner was asking if the Castle Hill man was the winner of the jackpot prize, after seeing him with a suit on.
"We checked the tickets and it was the very last ticket that had won! I said, ‘What is going on?’," the incredibly fortunate man explained.
Earlier this week, the lucky Castle Hill dad claimed his lottery windfall.
He said he and his wife don’t plan anything specific, but the thought of winning such a life-changing prize has really taken the pressure off them.
