A man, suspected of shooting another person at an Atlantic City, New Jersey, casino parking lot, was arrested minutes after the crime had taken place Saturday night.
As announced by local media outlets, a 41-year-old victim was found at the parking garage at Ocean Casino in Atlantic City over the weekend.
The incident took place around 9 PM on Saturday. Reportedly, the 41-year-old victim was found with several gunshot wounds to his lower body.
Officers with the Atlantic City Police Department who arrived on site treated the victim's wounds.
Law enforcement also collaborated with Ocean Casino security personnel and obtained a description of the suspected attacker.
Per initial reports, the victim, who is an Atlantic City resident, survived the encounter but was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Obtaining the description of the person suspected of being responsible for the shooting, police officers detained him minutes after the crime.
They were able to arrest the suspect thanks to the swift reaction and collaboration with the Ocean Casino security personnel.
Reportedly, the 55-year-old suspect was arrested at a time when he attempted to leave the area.
A firearm stolen from South Carolina was allegedly found by law enforcement on the suspect. It is unclear if the same weapon was used for the shooting at Ocean Casino's parking garage.
A report from the local news outlet, BreakingAC.com, suggests that the suspect previously faced criminal charges.
The 55-year-old suspect reportedly faced weapons and aggravated assault charges from an incident in 2014.
At the time, a woman claimed that the suspect threatened her with a firearm.
Subsequently, law enforcement detained the man and uncovered a couple of thousand dollars in cash along with a firearm and drugs.
After the most recent crime, the 55-year-old suspect is now facing weapons-related charges, as well as aggravated assault and attempted murder charges.
Considering that the man had a previous criminal record, he was also charged with possession of a firearm by a restricted person.
Per the New Jersey Criminal Code, anyone with a prior conviction of a felony or individuals suffering from mental illness are prohibited from possessing firearms.
