South Carolina woman wins $261K jackpot in North Carolina

A fortunate player from South Carolina, who recently visited North Carolina, won a major prize from one of the North Carolina Education Lottery's digital instant games.

The lucky woman named Tawney Horn from Fort Mill, South Carolina, participated in the Lottery's Wheel of Bonuses digital instant game which grants a chance for a Big Bonus progressive jackpot that starts from $50,000.

In a press release, the Lottery confirmed that the fortunate player recently won the jackpot from the game, a staggering $260,591.

After winning the grand prize, the fortunate player visited the Lottery headquarters to claim it.

When asked what she plans to do with the hefty prize, Horn confirmed she intends to "do something special" for her children.

The fortunate player won the jackpot while visiting North Carolina

Back in July, Horn visited North Carolina and purchased a $10 ticket for the Wheel of Bonuses digital instant game.

She was pleasantly surprised and incredibly excited after winning the top-level "Epic jackpot" from the popular game.

"I was so excited. I really was just sitting there playing that game like I always do," explained the lucky winner.

Moreover, Horn added: "That’s my favorite game. It’s the only one I really play."

The fortunate player admitted that she has friends who have also won big prizes from digital instant games, adding that such games are "really fun."

In North Carolina, lottery prizes are subject to federal and state taxes.

After the applicable taxes on the jackpot prize, Horn saw nearly $186,000 and change arrive in her bank account.

The Lottery offers a wide range of digital instant games

Currently, the North Carolina Education Lottery offers 26 different digital instant games.

The games are available via the Lottery's official website and its mobile application.

The cost per play for the Wheel of Bonuses digital instant game is between $0.50 and $30.

Each time the jackpot is won, it restarts to $50,000. At the time of writing, the grand prize of the popular lottery game is an estimated $440,390.

The overall odds of winning a prize from the Lottery's Wheel of Bonuses digital instant game are 1 in 3.86, while the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 3.1 million.
