A $30 scratch-off ticket brought a life-changing multi-million-dollar prize to one lottery player in New York.
On Friday, the New York Lottery confirmed that a Stony Point woman took down one of the remaining top prizes from its popular scratch-off game, $10,000,000 Cash.
The Rockland County lottery player purchased her winning ticket at Stony’s Food N’ News in Stony Point.
To her surprise and shock, she scored one of the remaining top prizes of $10,000,000 from the popular $30 scratch-off ticket.
To receive the entire $10m prize, the player had the option to receive $500,000 annual installments.
On the other hand, if they preferred a one-time, lump cash sum, the prize would decrease in value, but there wouldn't be annuity payments.
Similar to other players who have won big, the Stony Point woman picked the latter option.
As a result, her bank account increased by $4,211,980, after the relevant applicable state and federal taxes.
The fortunate winner did not reveal if she had plans regarding her newfound fortune.
However, considering that the win comes just ahead of Christmas, she will undoubtedly have unforgettable holidays this year.
The New York Lottery's $10,000,000 Cash game costs $30 per ticket and offers players a chance to win a prize between $50 and $10m.
Considering the latest $10m win was the second top prize to be taken down, now, only one more such prize remains in play.
The odds of winning the $10m prize are 1 in 6,097,983.33, while the overall odds of winning any prize from $30 ticket are 1 in 3.65.
Besides the $10m top prize, the popular ticket offers a tier-two prize of $25,000 at odds of 1 in 731,758.00. There are 14 such prizes remaining in play.
Within the lower prize tiers, many more prizes between $5,000 and $50 remain in play.
