This week, the North Carolina Education Lottery confirmed that the fortunate resident scored a life-changing jackpot by matching all winning numbers from a recent drawing.

The lucky winner purchased her $1 ticket from the Harris Teeter located at University City Boulevard in Charlotte.

Lottery players use different numbers, with some believing that a lucky number would bring them a big win, while others consider that randomness would make them rich.

In the case of the Charlotte woman, she incorporated a strategy by using her family's birthday numbers when playing Cash 5.

Lucky for her, this strategy paid off big time as she won the game's jackpot for a sweet $336,635 payday.

The odds of matching correctly all winning numbers from Cash 5 are 1 in 962,598.

The winner shed tears of joy

Speaking to an official from the Lottery, the fortunate winner recognized the windfall as a "blessing."

Recalling the moment she realized she had won the top prize, the woman said: "I burst out and started crying. I just couldn’t believe it."

Earlier this week, the woman visited the North Carolina Education Lottery headquarters to claim her big win.

After the relevant state and federal taxes, the Charlotte resident's bank account increased by $241,536.

Asked about her plans for her newfound fortune, the lucky woman admitted that she already knows what she will do with the money.

"We are going to Disney World in October. I was going to drive, but now we are going to fly," the Charlotte resident said.

Cash 5 players in North Carolina have a chance of winning a prize between $1 and a growing jackpot.

Each play costs $1 and features such as Double Play or EZ Match are payable for $1 extra each.

The overall odds of winning any prize from Cash 5 are 1 in 10.5.
