One lucky lottery player in Michigan was recently surprised by a life-altering six-figure win after trying his luck with a popular draw game.

This week, the Michigan Lottery announced that a single ticket matched all winning numbers from a recent Fantasy 5 drawing, taking down the jackpot at the time.

Calhoun County man takes down Fantasy 5 jackpot

Fantasy 5 is a daily drawing game that costs $1 per play.

Available to players of legal age across Michigan only, the game grants them a chance to win a prize between $1 and a progressive jackpot that starts at $100,000.

To participate in same-day drawings, which take place every day of the week at 7:29 PM, players need to purchase tickets via retail outlets, or the Michigan Lottery's official website until 7:08 PM on the day of the drawing.

Tickets purchased later than that time enter the next day's drawing.

To win the game's top prize, the lucky Calhoun County man matched all winning numbers, 04-07-24-25-30, from Fantasy 5's drawing on October 21, 2025.

Matching all drawn numbers, the winner took down the game's jackpot for a sweet $280,073 payday.

Not much is known about the fortunate winner, considering that he decided to keep his identity hidden.

The 56-year-old man from Calhoun County purchased his winning ticket online at MichiganLottery.com.

The fortunate man spoke to a representative of the Michigan Lottery and admitted that he usually buys one draw game ticket per day.

He explained that while he sometimes plays Powerball and Lotto 47, on the day in question, he decided to buy a Fantasy 5 ticket.

"I saw an email come through that night about claiming a prize, which I realized was different from the usual ‘your winnings have arrived’ emails. That’s when I logged into my account and saw I won big," the lucky winner recalled.

The fortunate soul added: "Winning a Fantasy 5 jackpot has me feeling like I’m living in a fantasy!"

Asked about his plans for his newfound fortune, the Calhoun County man said that he will use some of the winnings to help his kids and pay some bills.

As for the remainder of the prize, the 56-year-old man said he intends to save it.
