Maryland fisherman wins $100K from new scratch-off game

• Four more top prizes of $100,000 each remain in play from the $10 scratch-off ticket

A Glen Burnie, Maryland, fisherman was surprised by a whopping six-figure scratch-off prize after initially thinking he had won $10,000.

On Thursday, the Maryland Lottery confirmed that the fortunate winner scored the first prize from its recently launched Silver Bell Bucks scratch-off ticket.

"After I won, I said, 'Time to drink a beer'"

The identity of the lucky winner wasn't publicly revealed, however, the Lottery confirmed that the fortunate winner purchased his ticket at Honey Bee Liquors located at 7509 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie.

Giving the $10 game a try, the winner scratched off the winning numbers initially and started to match those against the lines of the ticket.

Once the winner saw that he had a match, he revealed the sum underneath it and it showed $10,000.

The man, who works as a construction worker, stopped scratching the ticket after he saw the $10,000 prize.

"I didn’t scratch the rest of it until I got home," the winner said when speaking to an official from the Maryland Lottery.

What the fortunate winner didn't know is that there was more to the prize than what he had uncovered.

Once he was at home, the Anne Arundel County resident decided to scratch off the rest of the ticket.

This is when he was surprised by nine more prizes of $10,000 each for a total of $100,000.

"After I won, I said, 'Time to drink a beer'," the lucky winner said.

The lucky man said that he plans to use the winnings for some home improvements.

A range of prizes varying in size are up for grabs from Silver Bell Bucks

The Maryland Lottery's Silver Bell Bucks scratch-off game was released on October 17, 2025.

The $10 game is one out of six Holiday scratch-offs introduced by the Lottery.

Each Silver Bell Bucks ticket grants players a chance to win a prize between $10 and $100,000.

After the Glen Burnie man's first top prize win, now, four more prizes of $100,000 each remain in play from the popular game.

A tier-two prize from the $10 scratch-off ticket awards $10,000 and out of 33 such prizes, 30 are up for grabs.

Players who win a tier-three prize from the Silver Bell Bucks game can expect $1,000 and out of 80 such prizes, 74 remain in play.

Within the lower prize tiers, many more prizes are up for grabs.

The overall odds of winning any prize from the game are 1 in 3.31.
