Mega Millions jackpot survives, becomes ninth largest for next drawing

• The jackpot from Mega Millions survived during the game's most recent drawing

After surviving the drawing on Tuesday, the Mega Millions jackpot has now grown to be the ninth largest in the history of the game.

The game's top prize is an estimated $680m for the next drawing

On Tuesday, the top prize from the popular game was an estimated $650m or $304.1m cash option.

The winning numbers from the Mega Millions' latest drawing were 2, 18, 27, 34, 59 and the gold Mega Ball 18.

Since nobody matched all the winning numbers to win the game's jackpot, it has now continued to grow.

With the next Mega Millions drawing scheduled for Friday, October 24, 2025, the jackpot will be an estimated $680m, while its cash option is an estimated $318.2m.

There were nearly 440,000 winning tickets across all prize tiers in the game's Tuesday drawing.

While nobody matched all drawn numbers for the Mega Millions jackpot, a single ticket in Illinois matched five white balls for a tier-two prize.

Before the changes to Mega Millions, which were implemented in April and included price increase, a prize multiplier that applied for non-jackpot winning prizes came at extra cost.

However, the overhaul of the game's rules changed that and now a random multiplier of 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x or 10x is automatically included.

Based on the Illinois winner's 3x multiplier, they won $3m from the latest Mega Millions drawing.

On the other hand, nearly a dozen lucky players matched four white balls along with the gold Mega Ball for a tier-three prize.

A total of 11 lucky souls made such a match, a figure that breaks down to five prizes of $20,000 each, five prizes of $30,000 each and one prize of $100,000, thanks to a 2x, 3x and a 10x multiplier, respectively.

Several Mega Millions jackpots have gone down in 2025

It was back near the end of June when the Mega Millions jackpot of $348m was won in Virginia.

Before that, the top prize was won in Ohio on April 18, 2025, when a single ticket matched all winning numbers for a $112m payday.

Earlier in the year, a $349m jackpot from the game was won on March 25, 2025, in Illinois.

The first Mega Millions jackpot for 2025 was hit on January 17, 2025. At the time, a ticket in Arizona matched all winning numbers for a $112m prize.
