A frequent lottery player in Maryland who gave a scratch-off ticket game a try was pleasantly surprised by a top prize win.
This week, the Maryland Lottery confirmed that a Lanham man scored one of the top prizes from its Bonus Bingo X20 2nd Edition scratch-off game.
The winner chose to remain anonymous, so it is likely that his identity will forever remain concealed.
Per the Lottery's announcement, the fortunate man purchased his $20 ticket from Village Pump Liquors at 4901 Greenbelt Road in College Park.
To the surprise of the Lanham resident, he won one of the remaining top-tier prizes for a sweet $500,000 payout.
After selling the top prize ticket for the Bonus Bingo X20 game, the retailer will benefit from a $1,000 bonus.
The incredibly lucky winner recently visited the Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim his big win.
Collecting the life-changing sum, the Lanham man admitted that he has a big family.
When asked if he had any plans regarding his newfound fortune, the man said: "I guess I’ll be helping them out and investing."
The Maryland Lottery introduced the Bonus Bingo X20 scratch-off ticket on February 10 this year.
The aforementioned game is one out of several bingo-themed scratch-off games that resonate well with a wide range of lottery players.
Each $20 ticket offers players a chance to win a prize between $20 and a top win of $500,000.
Out of a total of five top prizes of $500,000 each, three remain up for grabs from Bonus Bingo X20.
Besides several $500,000 top prizes, the popular $20 scratch-off game offers five tier-two prizes of $50,000 each.
Lottery players who try their luck with the Bonus Bingo X20 ticket can also win a tier-three prize of $10,000.
While there were 45 prizes of $10,000 each, now, 34 such prizes remain in play.
Within the lower prize tiers, Maryland lottery players can win prizes between $20 and $5,000.
The overall odds of winning any prize from the Bonus Bingo X20 scratch-off game are 1 in 2.97.
